This has been quite a year. So much loss, so much anxiety. My heart, my mind, my being has been transformed. It would be common to see the negative and allow bitterness to seep into my bones and view the world in angry rants and cynical remorse. Oddly enough quite the opposite seems to have happened. My heart sings with joy in the woods. The pups and I found this random batch of ornaments. A small piece of joy. December 29, 2016. Joy forgive respect lost. The boat lift waits. It waits for the sun to work it’s way back to the north with the promise of warmth and length of day. As the sun slips below our lake effect cloud bank (All the way from Lake Huron today! I’m reflecting on how grateful I am for family and friends. The temps are in the 20’s, the wind is raw. It’s a Carhartt kind of day. I feel no more alive and vibrant than on a day like this. The joke is that I was born in a blizzard and have been a cold weather guy ever since! December 9, 2016.

To me this brilliant white and muted grays and greens is a ten! To someone else it may be horrendous. We love to quantify. Everything seems to have a top ten list. Even the doctor wants to know your pain on a 1 to 10. I’m kind of a math and science guy but this bothers me sometimes! How do we quantify a memory? It would be the same to quantify love.
