Trust me, one day I might be your doctor. Laquo; Parcel-rack 1… London Medicgirl 0. London Medicgirl gets on her soapbox. Freshers week for the non-fresher. So, freshers week for me started on the Tuesday- with our Medical Fresher’s Fayre. Armed with edible goodies we set about trying to entice new meat into the society, and convince them that they really did want to join up! Sunday night I rounded up the week with flatmate and old friend, over a pint and a game of cards, in the pub we actually started i...

Firstly- thanks to everyone that commented; It’s nice when people get all responsive. Having read them- I do understand where a number of you are coming from. Here are my continued musings on the topic…. We’re getting into territory about which I know very little, but lets go there anyway- Why should the NHS take the economic fall for other businesses? How to use the NHS;. I&#821...

Last night started pleasantly- a film, baileys, sitting around chatting listening to music. Little did I know then that it would end… well… not so good. 8221; I realise I have blood all over my hands. Nice. 8221; You know, just incase my teeny cut turns out to be life threatening. A fortunate man: November 2009

http://afortunateman.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Thoughts of a GP (family doctor) working for the National Health Service in the UK. Sunday, 29 November 2009. O wad some Power the giftie gie us. To see oursels as ithers see us! So I'm looking old. Then there's the question of my weight. When I got married I was trim with a BMI of 21. When I applied for some insurance nine years ago my BMI had risen to 25. Now it is pushing 28. So, like the geese before Christmas, I am getting fat. But things get even better. Links to this post. She replied. But at ...

A fortunate man: Psychopathy

http://afortunateman.blogspot.com/2013/03/psychopathy.html

Thoughts of a GP (family doctor) working for the National Health Service in the UK. Wednesday, 20 March 2013. It occurs to me that some of the stress I feel at work arises because I want to be liked. I start feeling uncomfortable if the patient seems indifferent or, worse, unhappy. I think I would do better if I aimed for cordial but efficient consultations, and wasn't scared of saying “no”. So I have a go at this today. Keep up the great work doc, I bet youre a brilliant GP. 21 March 2013 at 16:07.

http://afortunateman.blogspot.com/2013/03/ups-and-downs.html

Thoughts of a GP (family doctor) working for the National Health Service in the UK. Tuesday, 19 March 2013. Drive to a visit in a part of town where we now have very few patients. I have been this patient's doctor for over twenty years but this is the first time I have visited her at home. I take this as further evidence that her current malaise is due to depression, as I'm sure she would have come to the surgery otherwise. 20 March 2013 at 15:11. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thoughts of a GP (family doctor) working for the National Health Service in the UK. Saturday, 5 June 2010. So I asked “if you became very ill and couldn't make decisions about your treatment, would you be happy for your husband to make those decisions for you? 8221; She replied “yes”. I continued “and if your memory got very bad and you could no longer make decisions about your finances or looking after yourself, would you be happy for him to make those for you? I signed the form. I am a middle-aged GP working for the NHS in an urban environment somewhere in this sceptred isle (this blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England). "Andrew Brown" is a pseudonym and I apologise to the six real Dr Andrew Browns on the GMC's Register of GPs, who are doubtless much better doctors than I. A new kind of GP.

London Medicgirl | Trust me, one day I might be your doctor.

Trust me, one day I might be your doctor. November 2, 2007. As much as I bitched and moaned last year about the stress and long hours, it has come to my attention that I really miss it. I walk past the hospital everyday and I find myself gazing into the canteen wistfully- remembering sitting there on quiet evening shifts and during the day after the ward round. This small town…. October 31, 2007. Although this is a big city, the fact remains that most students (and especially most medical students) live ...
