I came across this Loggerhead Shrike while driving along the Joe Overstreet Trail. The shrike is quite the hunter and will often impale his prey (frogs, anoles, dragonflies) on barb wire fences. One of the most popular post of mine has been my Hummingbird post. A couple years ago. So it was a no-brainer to have a separate post for the hummingbirds I photographed in Costa Rica. I believe each of these to be the rufous-tailed hummingbird except one of them, which I will point out below. They seemed to really be attracted to this plant, a porter weed.

Jul 12th, 2009 at 2:34 PM. I got into an in depth discussion of nachos with justin at a diner the other day. I thought it was my texan in new yorkness that came out, but then i realized, i've gotten into nacho discussions even in houston. I then decided it was my calling to start a nacho blog reviewing all nachos in manhattan (and everywhere else i visit). Last night I found out it already exists. one problem- these people don't know nachos! Where's the flavor balance in naked chips? You guys are crazy!
