Texas government: April 2011
http://texasgovernmentbykat.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 28, 2011. But that's not the primary concern. The main problem is the time constraint they are facing with only 31 days left. Obviously the budget proposal is the necessary motive for these sessions, but debt is a simultaneous deterrent at the time also. If the members don't reach a consensus in time it'll lead to a special session. Friday, April 15, 2011. I decided to comment on your post. But another option to consider is how reponsible people seeking their concealed weapon lincense wou...

Becca's Moderate View on Tx Govt. Friday, March 11, 2011. We aren't forcing you to lay people off. As the Legislative Session continues, the arguments about Educational Budget Cuts heats up more and more. Charles Kuffner singles out Perry's statement claiming that the State Government isn't forcing any layoffs, that decision is made at the local level. Wouldn't you stand up to critics saying that this is what the community of Texas asked for? Becca's Moderate View on TX Govt. Blue Oasis in a Big Red State.

Cowboys vs. Politics: March 2011
http://cowboysvspolitics.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Cowboys vs. Politics. Friday, March 11, 2011. The recent bill that forces women to have a sonogram prior to abortion is a terrible invasion; however, this. Post by Rachel Farris of Mean Rachel.com turns the focus onto an issue that seems to have greater importance. In reality, this post is geared more to those of a liberal view, but I would hope that it would bring attention to what is happening now, instead of what hasn't happened yet and perhaps sway some opinions. We have children who need help now, a...

Kelsey Scott's Texas Government Blog: New Task Force Out and About
http://kscottgovernmentblog.blogspot.com/2011/04/new-task-force-out-and-about.html
Kelsey Scott's Texas Government Blog. Friday, April 29, 2011. New Task Force Out and About. What is it but a number right? No, it is the age that most Americans cherish because they are finally allowed to drink legally. The key word here is LEGALLY. If you are between 15 and 20 you have most likely drank illegally before. Since this is a reoccurring situation, the Travis County Police Department has taken it upon themselves to create a special task force. To take down underage drinking. We have so many o...

Cowboys vs. Politics: Guns, guns, and more guns...
http://cowboysvspolitics.blogspot.com/2011/04/guns-guns-and-more-guns.html
Cowboys vs. Politics. Friday, April 15, 2011. Guns, guns, and more guns. My hatred of guns led me to a post. By Lura C., who touched on the same bill that I spoke of in my last entry. I agree with your opinion, Lura, that the bill should not be passed, however, I'm one of those people that dislikes guns to begin with. Sure, it would be an accident, but perhaps that person would not have decided to bring their weapon if it were still against the law. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Tx Govt Space.

No Machine Politics Here: Taking Notice
http://nomachinepoliticshere.blogspot.com/2011/04/taking-notice.html
No Machine Politics Here. Friday, April 15, 2011. Budget cuts and education is a touchy subject to many people throughout Texas. And everyone has an opinion. The budget, to date, is unbalanced, but should we really be cutting in the education department? And there are alternatives. The blogger suggests some alternatives that could generate income for Texas, as well as cut frivolous spending. Open casinos and legalize gambling. Many people live off of welfare and other government assistance programs.

http://nomachinepoliticshere.blogspot.com/2011/05/tax-payer-funded-abortion-services.html
No Machine Politics Here. Friday, May 13, 2011. Tax Payer Funded Abortion Services. Planned Parenthood began as a clinic for “contraception, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infection, and cancer screening and prevention.”. But Planned Parenthood posted its service numbers for 2009, and it has substantially increased its abortion services, by 2.5 percent from 2010. Planned Parenthood workers were caught on undercover videos. Of that number, Planned Parenthood performs a whopping 27.6%.

No Machine Politics Here: Who is to blame?
http://nomachinepoliticshere.blogspot.com/2011/04/who-is-to-blame.html
No Machine Politics Here. Friday, April 1, 2011. Who is to blame? As the legislature continues to try to find ways to slash the budget, many teachers are nervous to find out if their job is the next “budget cut”. More than 100, 000 teachers are likely to lose their jobs if the budget crisis continues as it is. Who is responsible? What can be done to fix this? This leaves less need for teachers, and allowing many to be laid off. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Blue Oasis in a Big Red State. Lone Star ...

No Machine Politics Here: The Judicial system of Texas is broken...
http://nomachinepoliticshere.blogspot.com/2011/02/judicial-system-of-texas-is-broken.html
No Machine Politics Here. Friday, February 25, 2011. The Judicial system of Texas is broken. As we pass the biennial State of the Texas Judiciary speech, many people have been reaffirmed in their belief that the state needs to do an overhaul of the judiciary system. Justice Wallace hopes to change this, however, and change the term of the justice to six years and appellate judges to serve eight-years. He feels that by creating longer terms, there will be a more consistent judicial branch. My Tx Govt Space.

No Machine Politics Here: Open carry: A good idea or back to the Old West?
http://nomachinepoliticshere.blogspot.com/2011/04/open-carry-good-idea-or-back-to-old.html
No Machine Politics Here. Friday, April 29, 2011. Open carry: A good idea or back to the Old West? On April 29, 2011, one Texas House Committee passed the open carry gun law, which would essentially remove the word “concealed” from the law. The bill would allow current concealed handgun licensees to wear their gun openly, in broad daylight, if it is in a holster. It would not, however, change the law that requires a license to carry a handgun, or the laws that are in place to acquire the license. The bil...
