Monday, August 03, 2015. Summer at the Beach. I really think Long Island has the BEST beaches! Where can you find such beautiful white, soft sand and no crowds? Okay, the weekend does get lots more people, but many days you can have plenty of unoccupied sand all around you. The Jersey shore does have the same beautiful sand, but the crowds are so huge, you can barely see the sand, even during the week. Fire Island is the best and the reason I say, "I love where I live! Just a quick post with some pictures from the annual Halloween boat burning at the Long Island Maritime Museum. Live music all night long. The burning boat is spectacular and keeps everyone warm. This was a 40 sport fisherman. Huge clouds of smoke filled the air. Good food from the truck, and trinkets for sale under the gazebo. A handsome rowing skiff is the raffle prize.
