Long live the weeds. Have you sung a song yet today? February 28, 2012. Wave one hand like that. Wave the other hand like that. Stamp your feet like that. Turn around like that. Sit back down like that! Who knows where these things come from? I certainly don't. And that's the beauty of it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Send me an Email. Join me on Facebook. long live the weeds: Hello there
http://longlivetheweeds.blogspot.com/p/temp.html
Long live the weeds. Have you sung a song yet today? Hello My name is Kapila Sankaran Love. Here's a picture of me gazing at a vine in Inwood Park:. I live in New York City, in Washington Heights. And I work in a suburban New York town library, as a children's librarian. I share my life with a fabulous person, three felines aged 17, 8 and 3, and various plants. I put together this blog to help folks who work with children learn and use and share anything musical. Or new songs to teach and share?

You can do this at your library! Thursday, August 7, 2014. So really, who doesn't love bubbles! It's a HUGE stress reliever for us grownups and the kids love them, too! So why not make our own bubbles! We centered the storytime portion around bath time since children could associate bubbles with that part of their life. Intro: Bread and Butter. Book: Bathtime Piggy Wiggy by Christyan and Diane Fox. We did this multiple times, the children loved it! A small bubble (make a circle with your hands). Book: Bu...

You can do this at your library! Monday, August 4, 2014. To me, there's nothing that screams science like Dinosaurs. The ladies over at Jbrary do it the best! Book: How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night? To the tune of "Hokey Pokey"). You put your claws in,. You take your claws out,. You put your claws in,. You can do this at your library! Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Little Scientists: Finger Paint. This was messy. And when I say messy- I wish that I had worn a poncho when we made the finger paint. (needless to say, there are no pictures because it was so messy I couldn't hold my phone or the camera! Here is the outline of the story portion of our program:. Intro: Bread and Butter. I've been teaching the children a word in sign language when time and my memory allows! By Ellen Stoll Walsh. As quickly as you can.
you can do this at your library!: April 2011
http://funbrarian.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
You can do this at your library! Sunday, April 10, 2011. We have these two treasure chests at the library. I have no idea why we have them but I figured we should make use of them- what better way than to do a pirate program! The two treasure chests had these toy gold coins in them. So I figured that while I was reading some stories, my teen volunteers could hide the coins and then all of our little pirates could go on a treasure hunt and bring all of the gold back to the treasure chests. So I snagged th...
you can do this at your library!: March 2013
http://funbrarian.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
You can do this at your library! Monday, March 25, 2013. I love using flannel boards in my storytimes. For some reason, no matter how old the child- the simple act of placing items on a flannel board seems to keep their attention. The most common flannel boards seem to be those that fall into the category of what I like to call “Five Little Whatevers.”. These get old after a while, so I recently started making flannel boards based on books again. So I have turned to sticky felt and my color printer.

You can do this at your library! Friday, February 25, 2011. She read the story. By Eric Carle and did the infmaous felt board story,. Originally, I had thought about making bubble gum with the children. But one of the key ingredients- gum base- is not easily found and I didn't want to drive myself crazy looking for it. So I decided that instead of making bubble gum, we'd have a bubble gum blowing contest in between our stories and craft. Here's an outline of how the program went:. 6 Craft- gumball machin...

You can do this at your library! Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Today would have been Elvis Presley's 79th birthday. Why not turn that into a library program? I started out by showing everyone some pictures of Elvis, most notably one in a sequined jumpsuit:. Andanother of him with his infamous lip curl. Served as background music while everyone crafted.
