Longwool: November 2005

http://longwool.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html

Reflections and rants of a knitter. I'm afraid there isn't much exciting knitting news to report. I have started the second sock, but I'm not too far along yet. Instead I thought I'd post some pictures of my belly now that I'm 9 months pregnant. So what do you all think? I have absolutely no idea. The baby is quite the kicker though so I'm pretty sure it's a soccer player. Posted by Jennifer @ 2:15 PM. Sock 1 is finished! Posted by Jennifer @ 7:04 PM. First of all, the sock leg is shorter. Even thoug...

Longwool: September 2005

Reflections and rants of a knitter. Frogging is not an option. I need some help! I was just knitting the baby blanket and I saw what I thought was a pull. Throwing my cats a dirty glance, I gave it a gentle tug so the feather and fan pattern would stretch back into place. But it wasn't a pull! It's worse. It's like a dropped stitch, but wouldn't it be facing the other way if it were? I haven't been short any stitches for the pattern. The rest of the blanket looks perfect. Where did this come from? And it...

Longwool: December 2005

http://longwool.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html

Reflections and rants of a knitter. Even though most of the presents under the tree seemed to be for Owen this year, I did get a few gifts myself once my family arrived a couple of days after Christmas. These skeins are from the Christmas shopping my mom did at the Rheinbeck Sheep and Wool. The blue yarn is from Cloverleaf Farms. Intended for a hat/scarf set. The green is some kid mohair that came with a pattern for a lacy scarf. I'm thinking maybe a pair of mittens for myself with this beautiful yarn?

Reflections and rants of a knitter. One of my husband's professors very sweetly sent us a baby gift. He and his wife also had a baby boy in December. We thought it would be nice to reciprocate with a knit gift. I originally thought of knitting a sweater for the baby, but then I thought "who am I kidding? It's not just my baby who is making progress slow; there are also some other babies on the way for whom secret projects are being knit. Posted by Jennifer @ 12:12 PM. I hope you all aren't getting sick o...

The Knitting Process: September 2005

http://theknittingprocess.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html

Knitting and spinning with lots of process but not much product. Wednesday, September 28, 2005. No blogging and not much knitting. There has been very little knitting going on here. Yesterday, for example, I did not knit a single stitch. Why is this? There are several reasons:. 1 Job applications. I am in the process of applying for jobs to teach a small liberal arts colleges. Some of those applications need to be in by sometime next week. Posted by Emily @ 10:14 AM. Wednesday, September 14, 2005. Sorry ...

The Knitting Process: Celtic Baby Blanket

http://theknittingprocess.blogspot.com/2007/09/celtic-baby-blanket.html

Knitting and spinning with lots of process but not much product. Monday, September 10, 2007. I finished (and gifted) my Celtic Baby Blanket back in July, but I never posted the finished product. To refresh your memory, it's a totally reversible baby blanket that I made out of Knitpicks Swish Superwash in color Dublin. Here it is! I worked the blanket out from the center in a seed stitch-like pattern, then added the border to the live stitches. It looks great on my rocking chair too! Wow, is that pretty!

The Knitting Process: Latvian Hat Pattern

http://theknittingprocess.blogspot.com/2006/02/latvian-hat-pattern.html

Knitting and spinning with lots of process but not much product. Thursday, February 09, 2006. In case anyone is interested, here's the pattern for my Latvian Hat. Please know that I am not a professional designer, and this pattern has not been test-knit. I don't think that there are any mistakes in it, but I won't know for sure until someone else knits it. This hat has now been knit by someone other than me. Look here. Gauge: 41 sts and 42 rows/4 inches in pattern. Notes: In the chart below, marked squar...

The Knitting Process: Husband Sweater Planning

http://theknittingprocess.blogspot.com/2007/08/husband-sweater-planning.html

Knitting and spinning with lots of process but not much product. Friday, August 03, 2007. Viking Patterns For Knitting. By Elsebeth Lavold. Wow. I'm not sure why I wasn't interested in this book when it first came out, but it was exactly what I was looking for. It has lots of beautiful cables that will be perfect for this sweater. The Lillbjars border and braided Lillbjars border are very likely to end up in the final sweater. To a cable knit using this new method. Posted by Emily @ 6:38 PM.

The Knitting Process: April Baby Blanket

http://theknittingprocess.blogspot.com/2008/04/april-baby-blanket.html

Knitting and spinning with lots of process but not much product. Tuesday, April 08, 2008. Posting here will continue to be intermittent at best. Blogging just isn't a priority right now, and our home computer is mostly being used by my husband for work purposes. But I am reading a lot of blogs, and keeping up (somewhat) with Ravelry. Although picture posting there has been minimal lately too. I hope they like it! Posted by Emily @ 10:54 PM. What a wonderful blanket! The blanket came out great! HI, you kn...

The Knitting Process: Baby blanket

http://theknittingprocess.blogspot.com/2007/04/baby-blanket.html

Knitting and spinning with lots of process but not much product. Wednesday, April 18, 2007. Last summer, my husbands brother (S) and sister-in-law (A) took a trip to Scotland and Ireland. S had been saying that he would be willing to have children after he had taken a trip to the British Isles. So A's parents took them on the trip, in the hopes that they might get grandchildren. The first iteration of the blanket is shown below:. I bought some Swish Superwash. I took the border from the Arwen. That's a v...

Knitting and spinning with lots of process but not much product. Wednesday, May 09, 2007. Celtic Baby Blanket: Version 2. Here's one side of the blanket:. And here's the other side of the border:. I think it will end up being about 3 feet x 3 feet. To answer a question from the comments:. How's the Swish for the blanket? Have you used it before? I need to start on a baby blanket very soon and am considering this yarn. Labels: celtic baby blanket. Posted by Emily @ 7:30 PM. Wow, the blanket is amazing!

The Knitting Process: March 2006

http://theknittingprocess.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html

Knitting and spinning with lots of process but not much product. Friday, March 31, 2006. After doing some swatching, I started a new sweater. It couldn't be softer. It's Jaeger DK weight extra fine merino. It is stash yarn, so I'm still working on decreasing the yarn volume. I hope it holds up well once I'm wearing the sweater, but it's so soft that I don't really have high hopes. Posted by Emily @ 6:24 PM. Tuesday, March 28, 2006. Spinning, on the other hand, has been much more fun. And a new spindl...

The Knitting Process: November 2005

http://theknittingprocess.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html

Knitting and spinning with lots of process but not much product. Wednesday, November 30, 2005. Why did I run out of yarn? I laid out fish of each color on top of each other, and this is what I found:. Their heads are all lined up. Look at their tails to see how much bigger some of them are. So what did I decide to do about this? I don't even like superwash wool. The only time I knit with it is when I'm knitting for babies. Six more fish to go. This time, I'll knit a bit tighter. Knitting and spinning with lots of process but not much product. Thursday, February 23, 2006. A belt or a sweater? Somehow, I'm making progress on my Komi sweater. For some reason, I didn't really think that would happen. But somehow it keeps getting a little bit bigger. Posted by Emily @ 3:42 PM. Tuesday, February 21, 2006. Blogger hasn't let me upload pictures for three days now. I hope you all have really good imaginations. I don’t usually knit socks. A long time ago (10-12 years ago? In case anyone i...

Words on the Wind. Saturday, May 10, 2008. Story by Vika Ishchuk, Tani German, Ryan Berres, Tony Carlson and Molly Miller. Script written by Molly Miller. 8220;I have fallen, Lord, once more. I can’t go on, and I’ll never succeed. I’m ashamed, and I don’t dare look at you. And yet I’ve struggled, Lord, for I knew you were right near me, bending over me, watching.”.
