Blogshevik (Jon King's semester in Siberia)
http://jonkinginsiberia.blogspot.com/2007/10/so-we-just-got-back-well-3-days-ago.html
Blogshevik (Jon King's semester in Siberia). Thursday, October 4, 2007. So we just got back (well 3 days ago) from our weeklong program-provided trip outside of Irkutsk. The first few days took place in Ulan Ude, a big city located on the opposite side of Baikal. We spent the rest of the trip very closely in touch with nature around, on, and in Baikal. Because showers run in short supply in Siberian villages, we went swam several times inBaikal.an experience supposedly so body-numbing it will add ten...

Bonjour Paris: Friendly Finns and Silent Snow
http://happyyowojean.blogspot.com/2008/01/friendly-finns-and-silent-snow.html
What once was a freshman's ramblings has now become an ex-pat's sophisticated musings. enjoy. Monday, January 07, 2008. Friendly Finns and Silent Snow. I just arrived at the airport, it’s almost 9, flight is at 2- so I’m only really like 3 hours early. I tried to hang around. For awhile to kill time- first trying to use the internet stations only to be scarred away by various drunks who were at the time trying to sober up by drinking juice which they just managed to spill everywhere. I sat down and rumma...

What once was a freshman's ramblings has now become an ex-pat's sophisticated musings. enjoy. Tuesday, December 18, 2007. It's below freezing in Paris finally- I know that's not like earth shattering for the rest of the world, but i thought i'd share. I don't really have appropriate clothing for below freezing- really looking forward to your arrival mom and dad! Don't forget the coat please! 21st friday- Uncle Russ and family arrive in Paris. Saturday- drive down to Lorgues (south of France). But of cour...

Bonjour Paris: October 2007
http://happyyowojean.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
What once was a freshman's ramblings has now become an ex-pat's sophisticated musings. enjoy. Monday, October 29, 2007. Pancakes, Velib, Louvre and the Red Sox. On my way out I wandered through Roman statues- mostly of emporers- and i couldn't help but giggle at the fact that all of the faces I recognized were due to the fact that we watched I, Cladius as a main activity in our Latin 4 class. I honestly can't remember the family tree- but the names were all familiar. Thursday, October 25, 2007. As though...

http://abbyinrussia.blogspot.com/2008/01/lots-of-stuff-happened-that-i-dont-have.html
Friday, January 25, 2008. Lots of Stuff Happened That I Don't Have Time/Energy To Write About. So I sort of ended last time with us getting to Moscow on the train from Piter. I'm back in Moscow. But in between those stops in Moscow, lots of stuff happened. I'm not going to write about it though. So now I am in Moscow till my flight back to the U.S. on Monday afternoon. Nothing else important to say. Loon of the Compound. WHY WERE YOU NOT AT THE COSTUME BALL? Did your invitation get lost in the mail?

Monday, December 31, 2007. Neither Stately Nor Majestic. Um My interest in blogging has decreased now that I have lost my home. I liked having a home and a life in Russia. Now I'm just a tourist. And while that might seem more interesting to most people. I don't like it. I liked having a place. So yes. We got to Yaroslavl. There was a crying baby in our plats-kart compartment of the train. We got to Piter. We went to Novgorod. Happy New Year to all! Saturday, December 22, 2007. An eternal traffic jam.

Как здорово! Россия!: September 2007
http://abbyinrussia.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 27, 2007. These are some of the rules for a telepone conversation from the earlier mentioned textbook:. Tell who you are. Tell what you want. Give the person time to answer. Don't speak very loud. Don't talk very long. Listen to what the other person says. Say something in answer. Apparently all Russians know the english word "butterfly" which is entertaining because the russian word for butterfly is бабочка which is like 10 times more awesome than "butterfly.". This is a really unorg...

http://abbyinrussia.blogspot.com/2008/01/helsinki-piter-moscow-kazan-novosibirsk.html
Saturday, January 12, 2008. Something should be written. This underground internet cafe is full of teenage Russian boys playing Warcraft III and just generally taking over the entire place. I'm in Novosibersk. The past, I don't know how long it's been. Well, we left Helsinki on Monday morning. And now it's Saturday evening. БЕЗ СЛОВ. As in, even if I had all the time in the world, I would never come up with the right words to explain the past week. Train: Piter to Moscow. So we ran around the train stati...

Как здорово! Россия!: Moscow
http://abbyinrussia.blogspot.com/2007/12/moscow.html
Saturday, December 22, 2007. Big like huge. like really really really huge. An eternal traffic jam. Way more America/Europe/civilized-ness than the rest of Russia. There are probably other important things to say about Moscow. Mainly I can’t get over how big it is. It’s huge. Something like 14 million people. I don’t know. Highly alarming. A brief rundown of the past week:. Other things on Tuesday:. WHERE on earth did you guys stay? Too bad it wasn't the Comrade Hostel, 3 mins from Red Square, next to a ...
