Synesthesia: Noviembre
http://kt-synesthesia.blogspot.com/2011/12/noviembre.html
The travels and ramblings of a hippie college student. Thursday, December 1, 2011. This month has been pretty regular- mainly working at the Youth Center and teaching classes. My middle-school classes ended this past Thursday, and I'll be finishing with my Data Mundo classes this upcoming Tuesday. There were so many Americans and Peruvians! I also ran in the 5k turkey trot and got a t-shirt for it, yay! I got 7th and Chris 8th, not bad for not running in months. December 30, 2011 at 10:15 PM. Katies Tour...

Sojourner Food: Humitas Peruanas (sweet tamales) - English & Español
http://sojournerfood.blogspot.com/2011/11/peruvian-humitas-sweet-tamales.html
Monday, November 21, 2011. Humitas Peruanas (sweet tamales) - English and Español. Para Español, mire por abajo. These are a little step up from the Costco tamales I adored when I was a kid. Humitas can be filled with whatever your little heart desires, and the butter and sugar in the batter makes them a little desserty. Their name means "little steamed thing". Corn husks (you may find these at a Mexican grocery). Sugar to taste (About a 1/4 c. depending on how sweet you want them). 50 g butter, softened.

Sojourner Food: Oh the places I've seen...
http://sojournerfood.blogspot.com/2011/05/oh-places-ive-seen.html
Saturday, May 21, 2011. Oh the places I've seen. Japan (Nagoya, Takayama, Ise, Koranke, Kyoto). From top to bottom: Persimmons in the fall at Koranke; Shichimi Togarashi (seven taste) spice in Kyoto; Hot sake and Hidagyuu (Hida beef) in Takayama; Dango in Takayama; Matcha ice cream in Takayama; microbrew in Ise; Kinako mochi with green tea in Nagoya; Shiruko (azuki soup with mochi) in Nagoya. Think Kobe beef is the end-all-be-all? Mochi is a cake made solely from pounded glutinous rice. It's a little...

Synesthesia: September 2011
http://kt-synesthesia.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
The travels and ramblings of a hippie college student. Saturday, September 24, 2011. It's like America.but South! These past couple weeks have just flown. I spent my time in Lima eating sandwiches from a restaurant called La Lucha (roasted meat with onion-lime salsa, ají pepper sauce, and fresh fruit juice on the side, sooooo good), and generally wandering all over the city discovering churches, parks, and shopping areas. It's a little strange, but welcome. Please send it to. Pasaje Yoyo Flores 180.

Sojourner Food: Marcahuasi
http://sojournerfood.blogspot.com/2015/06/marcahuasi.html
Thursday, June 25, 2015. Several weeks back we went on a little two day trip to Marcahuasi. Marcahuasi is located just above a town called San Pedro de Casta, which is about 2.5 hours from Huaycán (let's say this is about 4.5 hours away from San Isidro or Miraflores, Lima) by bus, in the district of Huarochirí. San Pedro de Casta's main square. San Pedro de Casta from above. It's S/10 one way from Chosica. The trip from Chosica takes about 2 hours. It's gorgeous, though keep in mind that you are goin...

Sojourner Food: Little Peru trips (Ayacucho)
http://sojournerfood.blogspot.com/2015/05/little-peru-trips.html
Thursday, May 7, 2015. Little Peru trips (Ayacucho). Since I last wrote in February, I've mostly been working and hanging out in Lima, exploring various nooks and crannies of the city. But I've taken a few smaller trips to other parts of Peru too. The rest of February was mostly working and hanging out with Peruvian friends and volunteers, seeing parts of Lima like Huaca Pucllana (some pretty ruins in Miraflores) and going to a friend's birthday party. Outside Huaca Pucllana in Miraflores. Muyuchi seller...
