http://doctorskullsworkshop.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 29, 2014. Despitr lack of blogging about it, and all the Christmas ho-hah, I've managed to complete the Crusader army. Two pictures below (click oin pictures for large view). All that's left is to do the battle-mat, paint the tents, and figure out how to store and transport the lot,. Friday, December 12, 2014. I invented a new word today. I was writing some example sentences on the board today and the English said "Which jerk took my sammich? Thursday, December 11, 2014. Has a lot of sen...

Doctor Skull's Workshop: October 2014

Monday, October 27, 2014. Again with the HO plastics. The wife and I went over to Gettysburg for the weekend, and I dragged her into the Gettysburg Toy soldier store. They did have a lot of stuff, however mostly not my scale or period. They had a lot of fully-painted 54mm figures of various periods that were pretty cool, but too expensive to play with. They had a ton of really, really cheap Civil War plastic army men, for obvious reasons. I'm also looking at various modern and sci-fi lead figs of various...

Doctor Skull's Workshop: July 2015

Thursday, July 30, 2015. Here are two examples:. 1 Gleep-Glorp the Spanky, doing research for groin called shots:. Here's #2: Rutherford St. Cool, galactic playboy. Tuesday, July 21, 2015. A squad of Saxon slingers. I had one disaster in the process. When I was bringing in the primed and assembled historicals from the car-hole, I dropped them on the floor, shattering much of the assembly work (I never did find one of the lances and some of the bases are still cracked). Anyway, here are the results:.

Doctor Skull's Workshop: February 2014
http://doctorskullsworkshop.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 20, 2014. I was thinking through some ideas for characters, classes, edges etc. I do believe I'm going to avoid having ability scores at all. Instead, your character will be considered "average" unless you choose a perk/edge/talent like "Strong Guy". In fact, I'm going to lump "feats", "ability scores", and "skills" into a single thing "talents" perhaps. Monday, February 17, 2014. Basic Fire Fight Sketch. Here's the basic hit roll idea:. 0 to 4”. 4” to 1’. 1’ to 2’. 2’ to 3’. I've been...

Sunday, November 30, 2014. Stepping Ever Closer to Madness. Saturday, November 29, 2014. Phase 1 Complete: The Turkish Light Cavalry. The largest section of the Turkish army for the Battle of Dorylaeum would be Turcoman Light Cavalry. I decided to convert HaT Industries "El Cid Andalusian Light Cavalry" (i.e., 11th century Moorish cavalry) to Turks, I did this by saying "These 11th century Moors are now 11th century Turks.". Here's the box cover (click on picture for bigger view). Couched and Ready to Go.

Thursday, February 19, 2015. Work Bad, XCOM good. I did get the XCOM Board Game in the mail yesterday. I haven't really looked at it yet. But, I had to have it, because XCOM! I'm spending entirely too much time playing XCOM: Long War. I'm on game #4. Game #1 was more or less a test game, trying things out. Games #2 and #3 I ending up quitting at about the same spot. The game begins in March and those games I ended up quitting at the end of September when I just got overwhelmed. Tuesday, February 3, 2015.

Doctor Skull's Workshop: September 2014

Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Just Couldn't Do It. I went over to Comic Store West on Labor Day. I stood there looking at D&D 5e. I looked and looked and looked. I just couldn't do it. I couldn't buy the Player's Handbook. It didn't seem bad and there was nothing off putting about it (except for the $50 price tag), but there was nothing about it that could nudge me into buying it. Friday, December 20, 2013. The blog titled "Paul's Bods" has been doing a lot of scratch built Roman buildings lately:. I've also seen some PDF's for paper-built Roman Villas which might be useful as is or as patterns for a more solid building. Sunday, December 15, 2013. Soviet version of "The Hobbit" from 1985. The Soviets made a movie version of "The Hobbit" back in 1985, which you can see online at this site:. It's all in Russian, of course, but there you go. Monday, December 9, 2013. Finally, I made ...

Saturday, November 30, 2013. Miniatures Rules: Movement Trays and Unit Size. I'm starting to put together a set of miniatures rules for the side game. My goal is to get a system that is fast and playable, with as little math and figuring as possible. Gygax and Perrin's Chainmail. Is a good start, but gets all bogged down in the post-melee morale phase. Tony Bath's. Two systems from the 60's are also pretty good, but also have some fiddly bits in the morale department. Pig Wars. UNITS AND FIGURE BASING.
