Why I still bother growing peas – Garden59
https://garden59.co.uk/2015/07/19/why-i-still-bother-growing-peas
Growing food for a growing family. Why I still bother growing peas. Posted by Matt @ Garden59. July 19, 2015. I know a lot of people don’t bother with peas or grow a mangetout variety, but I still like growing good old-fashioned ‘Alderman’ peas. They’re a tall variety that produce a heavy crop of big fat pods. Why do I bother when you get comparatively few peas for the space the plants take up, and when frozen peas are perfectly good and cheap in the shops? Gardening with a toddler. 11 Comments Add yours.

The whole western gardens of Everley were visible under the moonlight: their precise graveled geometries, their intricate plantings and efflorescences, their trimmed trees, all of Rodgers’s and Ponsonby’s many hours of mutual work. As Lenox gazed upon it he thought at once of how frivolous these country-house gardens could seem and how noble, what an achievement of man.
