A diary of sorts about what I'm learning about learning. Next OzLearn Tweet Chat is on 12/8/14. Moving On →. Last week I submitted my final assessments for my Master eLearning course through B Online Learning. It was somewhat bittersweet in that it meant that the course was coming to an end but at the same time I felt a sense of accomplishment now that I was finished. I’ve written a couple of posts. How if we can satisfy people’s needs for autonomy, competence and relatedness we can improve their motivat...

Think bigger, go further. Collaboration is not “soft”. May 19, 2015. May 19, 2015. I’m reminded of an article about sustainable development. Real, genuine collaboration comes, in my experience, when we are vulnerable with each other and prepared to work out loud. How do we get to the beginning of this? What “social tools” did we need in order to do this? So why so we balk at the idea that we might invest time and effort into delving into a sociometric look at how we organise our shared efforts? I am Dire...

Paul Batfay is the FreeFacilitator. Posted by Paul Batfay CPF. November 24, 2014. Some things endure in life. At school I ran every day to and from, even with a cello in hand…. 8230;this morning I ran to the train station, as usual. I am forgetful about little things, always have been…. 8230;this morning I trudged back home from the train station, collected my forgotten swipe card, and ran back. Some things endure in life…. 8230;some things change. Then I noticed something. Some things change in life.

Taking on responsibility knowing it will wear you down; freedom is a possibility only if you are able to say no. 1517, Rules (Album), Whitest Boy Alive, 2009. That song came up on shuffle this morning. I have a cracking headache. I woke up with it. I find it hard to say no. Flaws are not there because logic said they had to be. They just are. I stayed. Because I said yes to things. Holidays are in 6 weeks. Until then, no mo...

Another string to our bow. January 4, 2014. As a learning designer I seem to be asked to do more than just design online learning or other ‘learning’ interventions. The brief was – make it upbeat. So I thought that it would be good to get an authentic voice from people who had already used the system, and maybe get them to answer some questions or concerns from the people who were getting it. I filmed this on a Canon D600 and edited in iMovie using Keynote for the text. How do I change the toner? You are...

How do I change the toner? January 12, 2014. A recent tweet by Craig Taylor. And a company called Wistia. Got me thinking about video for learning. Video has been gathering pace over the last few years and more companies are introducing this as part of their learning strategy. The Wistia blog has some very good ideas, and I think that for a company who deal with video every day, it’s both refreshing and honest of them to chart their journey with video as a marketing tool. How do I change the toner? Notif...

Bespoke feedback in Captivate assessments – Part 3. January 18, 2014. This is a follow up post to my previous Bespoke Feedback in Adobe Captivate Assessments. I was reviewing the results slide and thought that having the subject to be reviewed appearing with text ‘You might want to review’ on each line was a little clumsy and so I wanted to put the review text separately. This might sound a little complicated but it really is quite straightforward. Have a look at the video. How do I change the toner?
