Lost in Books: Interview with Ann Cleeves
http://lostinbooks.blogspot.com/2008/10/interview-with-ann-cleeves.html
Monday, October 27, 2008. Interview with Ann Cleeves. Ann Cleeves has become a favorite author. While I really enjoyed her Vera Stanhope novels, her Shetland series has made me a devoted fan (and others, judging from the success of it). In the Shetland books, she writes of a place bleak yet beautiful, with characters whose families go back generations in an insular community, and so secrets are often kept for years - in short, a perfect setting for murder. Q You’d been writing for about 20 years be...

Books have never been my favorite Discworld series. But I was really surprised with this one. Maybe because Tiffany's older in this one (sixteen, I think, or almost sixteen), the book has a darker, more sophisticated tone. Reviews by KC Shaw. January 30, 2012 at 11:05 AM. Skunk Cat Book Reviews: Beyond the Grave by Mara Purnhagen
http://skunkcatbookreviews.blogspot.com/2012/01/beyond-grave-by-mara-purnhagen.html
Skunk Cat Book Reviews. Thursday, January 26, 2012. Beyond the Grave by Mara Purnhagen. This is the last book in this series, which consists of three actual books and two novellas that take place between the books' events. I didn't read the second novella, since I found the first one. I have read the other two books, though. I really liked the first one, Past Midnight. And was disappointed with the second, One Hundred Candles. The problems that I saw in the second book are still present in this one, unfo...

Skunk Cat Book Reviews: Gemini Bites by Patrick Ryan
http://skunkcatbookreviews.blogspot.com/2012/01/gemini-bites-by-patrick-ryan.html
Skunk Cat Book Reviews. Saturday, January 28, 2012. Gemini Bites by Patrick Ryan. I think this is what you might call the highest of all high concept novels. It's a lot of fun, too. The story is told from both twins' points of view in alternating chapters. Kyle is a nice guy, and Judy is not very nice at all- but she's an oddly sympathetic character. And Garret is fascinating. Trying to keep track of people, myself included. Tuesday, June 08, 2010. School is out for Summer! Monday, January 18, 2010. I bought an old-fashioned sewing machine last year and figuring out how to thread the thing has been on my list of things to do for about 6 months (right after buy needles). I finally made it to the fabric store before it closed at 6pm. Today, a rainy MLK holiday, I found a Utube video of how to thread the White Rotary Machine. Now all I have to do is make it sew.
