and you think the code is the hardest part – Lost In Open Source
https://lostinopensource.wordpress.com/2014/07/10/and-you-think-the-code-is-the-hardest-part
Lost In Open Source. And you think the code is the hardest part. Well, you’re pretty much right. BUT. I’ve been working, on and off, on a project called soscleaner. Since last December-ish. It’s a pretty straight-forward tool. It takes an existing sosreport. README and Licensing Decisions. Publishing binary packages ( RPMs. In this case, right now). Publishing to language-specific repositories ( PyPi. In this case, since it’s a Python application). Creating repositories (see RPM’s link). Fill in your det...

Lost In Open Source. When I have spare time, I like to play around with Python development. I was a history major, so please be kind with code reviews. SOSCleaner helps users in environments that have data export restrictions clean up an sosreport so it can be safely uploaded to a support group for analysis. IT IS NOT ALL that should be done for this process, but it does help with the most common and repetitive items. A Red Hat Enterprise Linux Plugin for New Relic. A Red Hat Community Effort.

Lost In Open Source. Dropbox Moving Data IN-House shows everyone it’s about the best solution, not the newest buzzword. Today Dropbox released a blog post. Announcing their multi-year effort to bring their file storage in-house and almost completely off of Amazon S3. They have kept their metadata services in-house since the beginning. Had they not announced it, nobody except Amazon and Dropbox would have known. The very definition of a successful IT Engineering project. They adapted as they learned more.
I don’t hate the word cloud anymore, maybe – Lost In Open Source
https://lostinopensource.wordpress.com/2014/06/01/i-dont-hate-the-word-cloud-anymore-maybe
Lost In Open Source. I don’t hate the word cloud anymore, maybe. 8211; short for Platform As A Service. It provides a complete application platform for users or developers (or both) by sufficiently abstracting those services away from their underlying technology platforms. PaaS lets developers develop, and lets administers admin. So what is cloud? 8211; an implementation of a PaaS solution that is seamlessly and automatically scalable to handle load demands and they grow and shrink. What is NOT a cloud?

http://hackrvamakes.blogspot.com/2015/05/tool-taxidermy.html
Showcasing member projects from HackRVA! Sunday, May 24, 2015. Not long ago, HackRVA lost a dear and trusted friend, Pinkie Taiwan. It was a trusty hot glue gun that bound together not only piece-A to piece-B- it bound together the community. Feeling jealous of the attention being paid to newer, more "sophisticated" electronic devices, Pinkie reached for the stars and surpassed expectations by managing to execute a processor-like command. Too bad it was halt and catch fire. MEMBER SITES and BLOGS.

http://hackrvamakes.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-bet-aaron-v-nelson.html
Showcasing member projects from HackRVA! Saturday, May 23, 2015. The Bet: Aaron v Nelson. The Setting: Back yard, beers, 2 AM. The Challenge: Nelson makes a wheelchair accessible ramp lead from the main room of HackRVA to the electronics lab (a three inch rise in floor height). Aaron's rules are that it can't be a stapled-together POS (at least safe and usable if not perfect) and it has to be easily moved and stored when not in use. I could do it in forty-five minutes.". It's a date.". RVA Women of Hack.
HackRVA Makes: Arduino, Freeduino, What Do We Know?
http://hackrvamakes.blogspot.com/2015/04/arduino-freeduino-what-do-we-know.html
Showcasing member projects from HackRVA! Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Arduino, Freeduino, What Do We Know? Robots, I'm talking about. Yes, robots. Here's an example of one project put together successfully if poorly soldered:. It worked, which is a testament to the patience of the teachers. If you run across the young man that made this, don't feed him. He keeps showing up and no one knows where he came from. He just grunts and grumbles when we hit him out the door with the broom. HackRVA Makes: Gears of "Almost" Finger Crushing
http://hackrvamakes.blogspot.com/2015/03/gears-of-finger-crushing.html
Showcasing member projects from HackRVA! Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Gears of "Almost" Finger Crushing. Michael cut these fabulous gears on the CNC in the name of learning more about mechanical systems and to make a neat demonstration. He happened to have a spare microwave turntable motor (we've kinda fallen in love with these things) so when you stick a finger in the works, it just sighs and spins the other way. You can see it hanging at the space in all its glory. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

It has been used to hold up a tarp to shield your virgin eyes from the deadly light of welding. As the tarp was up, you didn't, but do you See? Its uses are multifaceted, its angles more intricate in the Euclidean simplicity than a careful study of the multifoliate rose. I present to you the Post in a Bucket (tm) (patent pending). Lost In Oscar Hotel. There's Something in the Air. Track the Flight Live. We arrived at 10:00 AM to Dayton Wright Brothers Airport on Tuesday, May 22 to an amazing reception put on by the. Wright B Flyer Museum. After nine days of flying, we were still one county short of 88 when we landed at Dayton because of a months long runway closing at a Licking County airport–but a little help from the folks at a nearby private field allowed us to complete our goal! Here is a CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER.
