Castle in the Clouds: Getting Started With Scrapbooking
http://krista225.blogspot.com/2015/04/getting-started-with-scrapbooking.html
Castle in the Clouds. April 13, 2015. Getting Started With Scrapbooking. I sent a friend of mine a list of supplies today that I thought would help her get started on one of my favorite hobbies: scrapbooking! She made the mistake of expressing an interest and saying she'd like to join our little group on our annual scrapping trips. I almost feel sorry for her husband because he has no idea what's in store for him as she starts building her supplies. Scissors. Mine aren't this colorful, but now I wish...

Castle in the Clouds: March 2015
http://krista225.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Castle in the Clouds. March 27, 2015. So Many Pictures, So Few Videos. Yet, there is one thing that phone does better than my expensive Nikon equipment: it takes decent videos. If I use my Nikon, you can hear the autofocus mechanism in the audio track. It whirs and clicks, clicks and whirs, as the sensor struggles to keep the subject in focus. The iPhone, on the other hand, does not distract the viewer in such a way. It just records. I should start doing that today. March 25, 2015. I also tried to find m...

Castle in the Clouds: My Alter Ego
http://krista225.blogspot.com/p/the-alter-eg.html
Castle in the Clouds. I've gone back and forth on linking my real identity with my alter-ego's. The reasons aren't complicated. I'm afraid that my self-published titles could someday hinder my chances of selling to a traditional publisher. I'm also afraid that the types of books I've published under the pseudonym would be problematic when I get around to shopping out my fantasy novels; I fear being pigeon-holed. Me and Dexter the Difficult. Whewthe secret is out and I feel better for it! 160; I guess I c...

Castle in the Clouds: March 2014
http://krista225.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Castle in the Clouds. March 30, 2014. The Gifts of Imperfection - A Readers Response. I recently finished Brené Brown. S book, The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are. I was drawn to the book because of these two Ted Talks. Go ahead and watch them. I'll wait. That have been added to Goodreads. One of the sections of the book that really struck me has a lot to do with this quote:. I like to think I'm a fairly positive and upbeat person, but I have d...

Castle in the Clouds: April 2015
http://krista225.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Castle in the Clouds. April 20, 2015. Artist Date - Week 1. This post is late. I should have written it up sometime during the week of April 13th. That didn't happen, though, so here we are. I don't know why I struggle with this task, but I do. I'm not even sure my "date" was really a date. I needed some costume pieces for the 80s Fest in Frankenmuth. Yes, I really should learn how to sew. I really wanted to buy Ken some MC Hammer pants, but somehow stopped myself. April 13, 2015. She made the mistake of...

Castle in the Clouds: December 2013
http://krista225.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Castle in the Clouds. December 5, 2013. My Christmas Movie Playlist. I love Christmas movies. As we will be putting up our tree this weekend after a visit to the tree farm, I thought about the movies I have quick and easy access to in my DVD cupboard. There are quite a few, and not all of them are enjoyed by the entire family. My kids recently added this one to our DVR and we've already watched it. I'm thinking that automatically disqualifies if from consideration, but they could surprise me. The movie a...

Castle in the Clouds: January 2014
http://krista225.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Castle in the Clouds. January 12, 2014. Winter Isn't Coming. It's Here! The reason for these less than ideal living conditions was a beautiful, but destructive ice storm that rained down on us just days before the Jolly Old Elf and his flying reindeer were expected to arrive. These pictures don't do the scenery any kind of justice. The light shining on and through the ice was simply stunning. Unbelievably, my in-laws didn't lose their power. A blessing, for sure, as they don't have a generator. Image cour...

Castle in the Clouds: May 2014
http://krista225.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Castle in the Clouds. May 2, 2014. So, I was totally inspired by this post. And as a result I decided to write up my own reading rules or habits. As Jeanette mentions, these reading rules really do seem to reveal a little something about my personality as well as my habits. If I loan someone a book, I try to be very clear about whether or not I want it back. If I say I don't, I don't. However, this also means I think the book was less than worthy of my keeper shelf. A paperback copy of Hood. By AT Mitche...

Castle in the Clouds: October 2014
http://krista225.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Castle in the Clouds. October 29, 2014. Once again, I am participating in NaNoWriMo. I know it's probably bad form to admit this, but I don't expect I'll win. I'm already struggling to find a balance between work, teaching, and home life. Adding in a 1,667 word count expectation every day borders on masochism. But I want to be a writer and writers write. So, that's my plan. I'm going to make this work. Somehow. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The dreaded bio. What to write? View my complete profile. Follow ...
