The Local Olive: October 2011
http://thelocalolive.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 9. A Rustic Apple Galette with Sage Honey. Besides the fact that I have my glorious kitchen back, there's something exceptionally delicious about this time of year. I've had my windows open day and night- which I've been told is purely a Californian thing to do. What's better than snuggling beneath your cozy blankets while a crisp breeze fills your bedroom, leaving just your nose cold? One of the reasons I love Alice Waters so much is that she believes good food comes from the best of ing...

The Local Olive: Happy Easter (Bread)!
http://thelocalolive.blogspot.com/2011/04/this-week-has-me-feeling-warmth-of.html
Friday, April 22. You must know, I'm a huge wimp when it comes to big changes in my life. Unlike otherwise grounded people, it takes me a while to get used to an idea before I can fully commit. I liken it to hearing a new song for the first time. I usually hate it the first three times I listen to it, but after that it's pure unwavering love. I think I've listened to this song long enough to know that buying this house (did I mention we're in escrow? 8 cups all purpose flour. 1 cube butter, melted. Crack...

The Local Olive: Love is in the Details
http://thelocalolive.blogspot.com/2011/06/love-is-in-details.html
Friday, June 10. Love is in the Details. Something else. You begin to see all the love that goes into the details. I had a moment the other day while I was in the car. I was embracing my inner redneck (I've been doing a lot of that these days) and rocking out to some good ol' fashioned country music when out of nowhere a voice in my head said "you need to look at this house the way God sees you; not for what you are -but for the potential you have.". Last night was the first night in our new home and as ...

The Local Olive: April, Arugula Blossoms and a Cottage
http://thelocalolive.blogspot.com/2011/04/april-arugula-blossoms-and-cottage.html
Thursday, April 7. April, Arugula Blossoms and a Cottage. Last Saturday, as I ran some early morning errands, I stumbled upon the unmistakable cluster of white canopies attracting (blindingly pale) folks clad in shorts - carrying away sprouting herbs, Kenny's Farmhouse Cheeses. And armfuls of luscious spring veggies. I wasn't expecting the West Nashville Farmer's market for at least a few more weeks, so you can imagine my excitement. Delvin Farms. The always informative Amy Delvin. With just three days o...

The Local Olive: So Fresh and So Clean (Clean)
http://thelocalolive.blogspot.com/2011/03/so-fresh-and-so-clean-clean.html
Friday, March 11. So Fresh and So Clean (Clean). I know, I've been gone forever it seems but. I've been a busy little bee! For the last month, I've been doing some serious house cleaning. Well, more like cleansing. As you can see, a little sprucin' up around here, too! I hope you like it - it's simple and a bit cleaner than before, which seems to be in line with what I've been up to lately. One of our goals for 2011 was to actually complete. We're nearing the end of our 21 day cleanse. I thought I'd shar...

Fiesta, forever.come on and sing along. If you grew up in santa barbara, fiesta is part of your soul. it's a summer marker that is etched in your brain. being in parades, watching parades, making cascarones, buying cascarones, meeting up with old friends, drinking margaritas, dancing, dressing in costume, eating churros, tacos, feeling a slice of history and just having a good time are all part of the 5 day celebration! Santa barbarian which furthers my interest in showing them all there is to the party!

I will remember november. Thanksgiving morning 2014, where my gratitude begins. A few images of what made up the month of november around here this year. a month traditionally geared toward being thankful, i'm reminded that along with the days getting more full on the calendar, our hearts are also filling up! We adore our two. I started bread baking this month. totally new to me - and i (we all) love it! I always take the girls with me to vote. hoping they'll absorb the importance as they grow older.

The Local Olive: Sunday Showers and a Spring Frittata
http://thelocalolive.blogspot.com/2011/05/sunday-showers-and-spring-fritatta.html
Monday, May 2. Sunday Showers and a Spring Frittata. I didn't leave my house once on Sunday. In fact, the only time I went outside was at 8:00 am to let Ava go potty. It was stormy and lovely and I finally found some time to catch up on my magazines and a book that I just received in the mail. I decided I had far too much on my mind to let a whole day go to waste. The stormy weather had me craving comfort food. But comfort food that was already in the pantry because heaven knows, I wasn't about to ch...
