Garden in the Redwoods: May 2007
http://redwoodgarden.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Garden in the Redwoods. Tuesday, May 01, 2007. I finished my planting yesterday, April 30th, except for the last few tomatoes, which are still too small to put out. I don't have my map drawn out yet, but when I do I will insert it here. In the top three boxes I have snow peas, sugar snap peas, cucumbers, Delicata squash, bush beans, onions, lettuce, carrots, beets, chard and broccoli rabe. In the second row of boxes I have summer squash, garlic, peppers, and shallots. Elephant Garlic "ala supermarket".

Early Ripening Tomatoes
http://www.heirloomtomatoplants.com/early_ripening_tomatoes.htm
These varieties have an average ripening time of less than 70 days, many from only 50 to 68 days from plant out to mature fruit. This huge, sprawling plant produces heavy clusters of golf ball sized, incredibly delicious, deep red ambrosial fruit with golden jewel-like sparkles within the red skin. Very sweet! It was one of my absolute favorite tomatoes at TomatoFest in September- j. Ust knocked me out. Candy-on-the-vine, not to be missed. 65 days. This was the very first heirloom tomato I ever tasted.

Garden in the Redwoods: June 2006
http://redwoodgarden.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Garden in the Redwoods. Monday, June 12, 2006. I was quite surprised to find this little baby coming right out of the retaining wall. I believe this is an Aunt Ruby's Green Cherry, since last year's vine was prolific with fruit and sprawling all over the place. It will be interesting to see what happens with this little vine. My question for you gardeners out there is this: if this vine bears fruit, what should I do? B) cut a slip and try to root it and plant it elsewhere in the garden? And now for a few...

Garden in the Redwoods: August 2006
http://redwoodgarden.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Garden in the Redwoods. Tuesday, August 15, 2006. Garden Update, August 2006. It's been a couple of months since I posted, and I haven't ignored the garden since June, I just haven't had time to write about it. We ate a few tomatoes too. The Green Grape has been producing decently (by my standards) and some of the fruit are ripening. They are SO good! Spinach does well when it gets a lot of sun early on. I got a bad show of seedlings, and then the seedlings that did come up, bolted almost immediately...

Garden in the Redwoods: May 2006
http://redwoodgarden.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Garden in the Redwoods. Tuesday, May 30, 2006. Two weeks ago the lettuce and green onions were just sprouting. Here's a shot of how I've interplanted them. Here are my arugula sprouts. They have a surprising bite to their flavor. We ate dinner at Soif in downtown Santa Cruz recently and they served a salad of fennel and artichoke hearts topped with arugula sprouts. It was delicious! But I'm saving these sprouts for something larger. Posted by sandy at 10:19 PM. Wednesday, May 17, 2006. Celebrity. Las...

Garden in the Redwoods: April 2006
http://redwoodgarden.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Garden in the Redwoods. Thursday, April 27, 2006. We caught another rat with the trap we put out last week. This one is not quite as big. It joined Templeton about a half-mile away down near a creek. It hasn't rained in over a week now and the boxes are getting pretty dry. We might be able to start planting this weekend! My Russian dossier paperwork is wrapping up so I think I'll have some good time for planting. Posted by sandy at 10:45 PM. Thursday, April 20, 2006. Pests and other Wildlife. I amended e...
