Because It's There: January 2009

http://www.lovelaceblog.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Link to all pics. Once upon a time. Friday, January 16, 2009. My 6 month contract finished on January 9th. To celebrate, we took a month off and caught a flight down to Christchurch. Our plan: rent a campervan for an entire month and explore the South Island. So far we've been on the road for 6 days, long enough to lose track of time and settle into a groove. We've been pleasantly surprised at how well things have gone, and I already find myself wishing that we had more time on this trip. Once upon a time.

Link to all pics. Were not gonna take it. All Blacks v Wallabies: a Haiku. Why I Love My Job. Martinborough, Cape Palliser, and the Pinnacles. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. We hopped in the car last Sunday and headed about 40 minutes north of Wellington to visit Kaitoke national park. Kaitoke is widely advertised as being the setting for Rivendell, the city of the elves in The Lord of the Rings. The park had a lot of older trees, some dating back a thousand years or so to the time when moa. There were no ...

Link to all pics. The South Island, In Good Company. A Rough Trip and A Good Yarn. Friday, November 14, 2008. The South Island, In Good Company. Above: I've had worse detours. Nelson was a really neat town. It's about as laid back a place as you'll find in Western civilization; one place we considered staying is actually "clothing optional" during certain parts of the year (sorry, the fun doesn't start until February and we didn't stay there anyway). The town is full of artists, galleries, and ot...Was a...

Link to all pics. Dunedin, Mount Cook, and Lake Tekapo. Fjordland and Milford Sound. Thursday, April 16, 2009. One of the many deserted beaches in the Catlins. We headed south after leaving Fjordland, making a beeline for the southern coast. This part of our trip would lead us off of the typical path taken by most people visiting the South Island. We were heading into a really remote area known as the Catlins. It was surreal listening to Johnny Cash and an assortment of Appalachian music being sung in a ...

Oh, the places I go: The Plan

http://meigansullivan.blogspot.com/2011/11/plan.html

Thursday, November 24, 2011. Will we hear the distant chuckling of God laughing? Time will tell. Either way, our plan is to return to the US in June. The girls finish school on the 12th of June, and we'll leave sometime after that. I've already gotten into my head, so there's no more 'stocking up' of anything, and the question "do I like this enough to bring/ship home? Curbs my purchases. Clock is ticking. So excited that you all are coming home! November 26, 2011 at 2:22 PM. Oh, the places I go.

Oh, the places I go: The Ending of an Era, the Turning of a Page

http://meigansullivan.blogspot.com/2012/04/ending-of-era-turning-of-page.html

Saturday, April 28, 2012. The Ending of an Era, the Turning of a Page. Was their enthusiastic response. I on the other hand, was tearing up at the thought. I've had a wonderful time here. I have friends who are like family, whom I love unconditionally and will do anything for and not hesitate to ask anything of. That kind of love is hard to leave. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Oh, the places I go: 1 Week Back

http://meigansullivan.blogspot.com/2012/05/1-week-back.html

Monday, May 7, 2012. I've been home for 1 week and am finally sleeping to a normal hour in the mornings. Repeatedly waking up at 3:30 am day after day is one of the tough adjustments of working through jet lag. So how does it feel to be home? Weird It's weird knowing that I put the suitcases away and don't need to pull them out again for the foreseeable future. Weird that I look around my house and although it's familiar, it doesn't feel quite right. I. Don't feel quite right. Scared the crap out of me!

Thursday, March 3, 2011. We spent last week in Hong Kong. I loved it! The food was great. We gorged ourselves on dim sum, dim sum, more dim sum, and then some Thai food thrown in for variety. :) Cory got on pretty well using chop sticks, and only occasionally had to resort to the "stabbing" method. Sammy made drawings for the characters, (spelling their names all by herself) and she gave them out as we met each one. As a result, she got tons of hugs! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Oh, the places I go: Sewing in the Subcontinent

Monday, September 12, 2011. Sewing in the Subcontinent. I live in India, and have for the past 2.5 years. When my sewing mojo started to extend beyond making curtains and chair covers for the house, I had to start searching for fashion fabric. You'd think that since so many garments you buy in the US and elsewhere are "Made in India", it should be easy to find fabric here. Ha ha.if only that were true. What I can. Finding sewing supplies was initially a challenge, but a trip to General Bazaar. His main b...

Adventures with the Self-Timer. September 13, 2017. I remember being a new mom scrolling through my camera roll. There were hundreds of pictures of my baby and my baby with daddy, but NONE of me. Sound familiar? I decided then and there that it had to change! All I wanted is to be in the frame with them- -for them to see my exhausted, happy mama eyes. So that's where my adventures in the self-timer world began. Here are some of my favorite captures from over the years! DO YOU USE A REMOTE? Sometimes....
