A Flying Scotsman: Fresh Jam
http://aflyingscotsman.blogspot.com/2008/11/fresh-jam.html
A blog of my time in Japan. Enjoy. Thursday, 27 November 2008. So, a couple of my kids decided to give me their Apple jam. Turns out these little 12/13 year olds can make some pretty rocking stuff. I'm well impressed, it goes beautifully on toast in the morning. Ken: Just a minute! Don't come into my room! Mum: Why do you put on a skirt? You're wearing a nice dress. Ken: I borrowed a skirt from Michiko. Mum: I believe that ken is sin-cere. Ken: I am a daughter. Ken: Please believe me. Mum: I believe you.

A Flying Scotsman: October 2008
http://aflyingscotsman.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
A blog of my time in Japan. Enjoy. Friday, 31 October 2008. So today I taught about Halloween, not the easiest subject to explain to kids in a foreign language especially when they want to know the history of it. And especially when your JTE doesn't translate what you say properly. The first year kids wanted to know about where it came from so I tried to explain Samhain. As best I could . It was a dark, dark night,. There was a dark, dark wood. In the dark, dark wood there was a dark, dark house. I'm not...

A Flying Scotsman: January 2009
http://aflyingscotsman.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
A blog of my time in Japan. Enjoy. Monday, 26 January 2009. Oversized, almost naked men and drinking in Tokyo. So last weekend was a fun one. I went to Tokyo to see this man in action. What a beast. Asashoryu has been eating and training for years to get to where he is, and by god does he look good. Then towards the end of the evening of sumo the big guns were pulled out. Hakuho and Asashoryu stepped into the ring with their opponents. Oh, the joys. Sunday, 18 January 2009. My first experience of a big g...

A Flying Scotsman: December 2008
http://aflyingscotsman.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
A blog of my time in Japan. Enjoy. Tuesday, 9 December 2008. And he's a 22 year old Scotsman living in Japan. I think, looking at my photo's, that I must have been one of the skinniest Santa's ever and I'm not particularly skinny (thank you for that Japan). I'll get photo's up as soon as I transfer them to my laptop which shouldn't be too long, I'd imagine. So yesterday went like this:. 6AM: Woke up, washed and didn't have breakfast because I had my yearly health check. 1015AM: Japanese study is interrup...

A Flying Scotsman: Christmas and New Year in the motherland
http://aflyingscotsman.blogspot.com/2009/01/christmas-and-new-year-in-motherland.html
A blog of my time in Japan. Enjoy. Sunday, 18 January 2009. Christmas and New Year in the motherland. It's been just over a month since I posted in this. I guess I kinda lost interest. Now I'm back and it's going to be just as inspiring as it was before. My first experience of a big group of westerners together was at James and Anna's engagement party. Freaked out to start with seeing so many westerners without any Japanese. Managed to calm down though and survived that experience.
