My first stint as an au-pair was when I was still in my teens (only just though) and I took up a 6-month position as an au-pair in The Netherlands. After that, I went back to South Africa and went back to various jobs in the ‘real-world’, but eventually missed working with children so much that I decided to become a full-time ‘career’ nanny and thankfully worked for amazing families and children who were such a blessing to me.
