Normandy is beautiful: stone cottages, lots of green fields with cows and lambs. Of course Normandy is known for their milk, cheese and apples, and I believe I had my fill of each! Wednesday, June 23, 2010. We took a cooking class while in Normandy in a town called Cherborg. On the menu: chevre croutons (what we call crostini), quail braised in calvados and a strawberry tart. It's in this woman's house, who has the most amazing kitchen. We cooked on a wood burning stove/oven and we stayed on the property in a barn that she remodeled. June 25, 2010 at 1:49 AM. Since the malls are very expensive, people tend to buy fabrics and have a seamstress make clothes for you. Tuesday, September 22, 2009. Week 3 - I'm learning to adapt. So I think I've officially been to every grocery store in Bahrain. I still find that exciting. Not too much happened this week. Still waiting to get my visa, hopefully on Thursday it will be ready. It's taken two weeks now. Ramadan is over, so I'll be discovering all Bahrain has to offer now. More to come later. Monday, October 19, 2009. HMS Belfast: huge military naval ship right next to the London Bridge. You can walk through the entire thing and see the dental room, operating room, huge kitchens, butcher's room, baking room, where they fired their weapons, etc. It was the first ship to fire at Normandy, and kids can have a party/sleep over for special events.
