Stress and Gentleness and Intellectual Grappling | lovingeveryleaf

https://lovingeveryleaf.wordpress.com/2015/08/12/stress-and-gentleness-and-intellectual-grappling

Experiences in literature-based learning, parenting on the spectrum and living by faith. Stress and Gentleness and Intellectual Grappling. August 12, 2015. Even my summer reading has decreased. Whereas I typically devour book after book in my spare time, this summer has only allowed me to complete four or five books. Rather, I should say I have only given priority to four or five. One book I have enjoyed, however, has been Susan Schaeffer Macaulay’s. Studies in the Formation of Character. I want to remem...

Playing with Sticks | lovingeveryleaf

Experiences in literature-based learning, parenting on the spectrum and living by faith. May 23, 2015. Every little boy (and girl) loves them. In our house they are represented in varying sizes, shapes and textures. Some are long, others are shorter. Some are thin and rough and are. Here are a few of G’s collection. I began to make application. Why are sticks such a big deal to G? There are a few reasons, I think. Sticks are infinitely malleable to any task at hand. By malleable, you understand, I do not...

Experiences in literature-based learning, parenting on the spectrum and living by faith. May 11, 2015. Are you able to discern this variety of tree simply by its bark? Could it be a sweet gum? There are certainly a number of sweet gum pods, or the fruit, about the ground nearby. Why are you uncertain? Are you not familiar with trees? Can you more readily recognize them by their blooms or leaves? Is the photo simply too close? The closer we study something the more difficult it may be genuinely to see it.

Experiences in literature-based learning, parenting on the spectrum and living by faith. Resources: “What is that in your hand? May 5, 2015. What is the mightiest tool I possess? A recipe for spaghetti puttanesca? A seemingly pointless master’s degree in Slav(on)ic studies? I see my puttanesca recipe only as a means of getting dinner on the table until I remember a couple of loaves of bread . Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many? I was rea...

Welcome! | lovingeveryleaf

https://lovingeveryleaf.wordpress.com/welcome

Experiences in literature-based learning, parenting on the spectrum and living by faith. Why are we loving every leaf? Besides the lovely alliteration, this phrase is a modification pulled from one of my favorite novels of all time, involving possibly one of my favorite fictional characters. In the middle of Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, Alyosha’s mentor Father Zosima advises him on life, love and God. 6 thoughts on “ Welcome! September 23, 2013 at 9:50 pm.
