Loving The Least Of These

"For I was hungry, while you had all you needed. I was thirsty, but you drank bottled water. I was a stranger, and you wanted me deported. I needed clothes, but you needed more clothes. I was sick, and you pointed out the behaviors that led to my sickness. I was in prison, and you said I was getting what I deserved...whatever you have done to the least of these, you've done it to Me." Matthew 25 according to Richard Stearns, President of World Vision

Loving The Least Of These: November 2013

http://lovingtheleast.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 14, 2013. Who Are We Really? I was scrolling through my FaceBook feed the other day, when this little gem of a note popped up. Jaslyn is the daughter of some precious friends of ours and is nine years old. Yes, I said nine years old! What she was able to give words to, most adults would struggle to even vaguely identify, which is why I guess my eyes filled up as I read it. What is this marked discomfort we feel about our identities? Are you kidding me? I think at some level, even if sh...

Loving The Least Of These: September 2014

http://lovingtheleast.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 18, 2014. This boy. Sigh. oh how he has my heart! When I squeeze my eyes shut tightly I can imagine the stories he has told me playing out- the good and the bad. I can hear the pitter patter of his bare feet as he walked in nothing but a t-shirt through the dirt to the rancid pond that provided the only drinking water available for his birth family. My son is passionate about people having clean drinking water. He has been since he was. Don't we all feel passionately about something, ...

Loving The Least Of These: Just Show Up

http://lovingtheleast.blogspot.com/2014/03/just-show-up.html

Friday, March 28, 2014. I was gently reminded of this last week as I spent time with a dear friend whose brother lost his battle with depression last month. There is no describing that kind of pain, honestly. As I drove through four states on my way to see her, I kept wondering how in the world to help her. What do you even say in circumstances where there are just no easy answers? How do you be a good friend when your heart can’t fathom what she must be feeling? Yet, we go anyway. I was talking last nig...

Loving The Least Of These: A Great Chorus Of Songs

http://lovingtheleast.blogspot.com/2014/12/a-great-chorus-of-songs.html

Monday, December 1, 2014. A Great Chorus Of Songs. As I approach my 40th birthday this month, I've been reflecting on this beautiful tradition. I believe the greatest privilege of our lives is calling out the beauty and gifting in others. There is a reason we have been given community within which to live, work and play. We NEED each other. Not only do we need each other so that we can be reminded of our own song, but we need each other's SONGS! My answer is yes, because I can't afford not to. There'...

A funny thing happened on the way to Ethiopia........: September 2013

http://jahhelpme.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

A funny thing happened on the way to Ethiopia. The stories of my life as the mother of 5. Friday, September 6, 2013. Over 13 years ago, I made a choice; a choice to stay home with my baby. And that choice continued after each baby. 5 babies later, I am eternally grateful for the wisdom in that choice and that God provided my husband a job that allowed me that decision. I didn't get that job I wanted this summer because this one is even better for us. His hand is all over it. Thank you, Lord!

A funny thing happened on the way to Ethiopia........: April 2014

http://jahhelpme.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

A funny thing happened on the way to Ethiopia. The stories of my life as the mother of 5. Sunday, April 13, 2014. Springing In To Me. I was invited to be a part of Glennon Melton's Messy, Beautiful Warrior Project. This essay written last year at this time is my truth. My messy beautiful truth. This year I learned from it all. I learned we all need grace. Sometimes, big huge double portions of grace. We usually need the grace when people feel least like giving it to us. Indeed He is. Always with me&#...

Carry On, Warrior. Bring G to You. Carry On, Warrior. Bring G to You. Get G in Your Inbox! Cool Ashes Can’t Burn Us. January 30, 2015. I believe that life starts when we stop running from pain and instead surrender to it. We can’t remain on the lam from pain forever. The running and deflecting and numbing. I posted it and your responses. How can I help you through the trauma? Yes I see this. This is real. We don’t need a magician to take it all away – we just need a witness.”. And Amy said, “I thin...

Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Upon examination at the hospital, it was determined that his liver was NOT, in fact, enlarged. The cardiologists believe he has costochondritis, an inflammation where the ribs connect to the sternum. A few days of ibuprofen and he should be good to go. It's not dangerous, it just hurts. His EKG was normal, well, ok, "normal" for him. My explanation- God healed him. Is it a cut and dry healing? No Could either of the doctors have been wrong? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The road less travelled...: The road less traveled - part 3

http://flash-gordons.blogspot.com/2009/10/road-less-traveled-part-3.html

Sunday, October 18, 2009. The road less traveled - part 3. You know when you have that feeling that change is in the air but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is? That’s what the past couple of years have been like for us, and even more so this year. You know Gods got something new planned and has you in some sort of transition stage, but He only reveals a little to you at a time – sort of keeping you in suspense! So the plan that we thought was soooo perfect was soon to be blasted…. By the way,...

Friday, April 03, 2015. Capture life 365–week 50. After only a short 3 month blog absence, I’m back determined to complete my Capture Life 365 posts before moving on to any other blogging! Obviously these next three posts happened in the last weeks of 2014 which I’m aware most people will have now moved on from! Though for the sake of having a complete years worth of posts – and my kids telling me I have to post them, here they are – for my kids! Yes, we were just a little bit excited! We found an absolu...

The Least of These

The Least of These. Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:40. Monday, December 22, 2014. I feel like God has been putting stories on my heart a lot lately. Many times the thought has come to my mind that stories need to be shared more. In churches, to each other, on blogs, in books. Stories, our stories allow us to relate to each other and to grow from each other’s experiences. Why the suffering, why the heartache? So as I preach MY grace...
