Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Okay, okay, I know it has been forever since I've posted anything, we got busy with Thanksgiving and moving. So I am going to post a few weeks and try to do some catching up. No real reason for this picture except I like that you can see Greg's shadow as he takes the picture. I think these may be one of Greg's favorite things. Most of the cabinetry is completed. This gives a nice view from the family room into the kitchen. Random Thoughts: October 2009

http://www.lowaltitudemusings.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 27, 2009. We decided that since they were coming to spray foam the insulation in the new part of the house that we would increase the insulation in the remaining house. Kinda creepy - don't you think? Guest suite bathroom and we are (hopefully) going for a bit of a retro look. Panel has disappeared from view. Here you see the new panel.anyone know where I can get a big picture that would look good in an office? Need I say more? We now have two live electrical panels. I know the worke...

Monday, September 28, 2009. Week 10, Part 2. Wait - there is something interesting to show you! The appliances aren't white.they are stainless. The refrigerator has french doors with a bottom freezer and the knobs aren't correct. The counter tops in the first two views and the bathroom aren't black granite, but it is in the morning room section (3rd picture). The floor in the kitchen and bath are tile and the morning room is bamboo. But, you'll get the general idea. Going this week. We are so thankfu...

Random Thoughts: July 2009

http://www.lowaltitudemusings.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 25, 2009. Denied access to my own home! Went by today to get a flavor without all the workmen peeking over their shoulders to see what I'm up to and I can't get in! Neither the front door key or garage door would open. I imagine they accidently threw the bolt (the front door lock is pretty funky) which means even the key won't work. Can't wait to see what the guys do come Monday morning; breaking a window is not an option. :-). Friday, July 24, 2009. Labels: Blast from the past. The family...

Random Thoughts: Week 17

http://www.lowaltitudemusings.blogspot.com/2009/12/week-17.html

Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Bill swooped in late last week and decided he wasn't at all happy with the appearance of the ceilings. So they were reworked and are now awaiting repainting. Sometimes it is the little things I notice.doors on the closet and laundry. The cabinets have arrived! These are the cabinets that cover one wa. Ll in the morning room - what we are affectionately calling the 'butler's pantry'. Now all I need is a butler to go with them, any takers? Finally, the shower walls (plus the.

Random Thoughts: Weeks 12 & 13

http://www.lowaltitudemusings.blogspot.com/2009/10/weeks-12-13.html

Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Weeks 12 and 13. Another seemingly slow week at the house, but actually they have been very busy. The plumbing is finished and the electricians have been there everyday. What a nice bunch of men! The electricians were busy this week. Good for us,. But not for our readers. Random wires don't make for the best pictures. boring! Here you see some seemingly random wires and several of the recessed canned lights. To be my sister Barbara's bedroom closet. That no longer is allo...

High Altitude Musings: May 2009

http://highaltitudemusings.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 3, 2009. I would have felt pretty good about what I accomplished during my recent trip to the Grand Canyon if it were not for the extraordinary athletes I met while on the trip; more about them later. Actually the trip began almost 5 months ago when we applied for the backcountry permit. The Grand Canyon receives 30,000 requests for the 13,000 permits granted each year. I was surprised to get exactly what I requested. As we crossed the bridge together I learned they were not stopping at Phant...

High Altitude Musings: July 2009

http://highaltitudemusings.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 24, 2009. 5210 Miles (plus some airmiles too). Starting at the beginning, Gwen's birthday party was a joyous celebration but the family missed Michael since he didn't make the journey due to problems with his Frontier. We stayed with Beth and Dave in Wilmette and they were so helpful with the pre-wedding activities including cooking 100 brats while we were at the rehearsal. After a two day drive to the BWCA with a lunch stop where we braved 38 degree weather. In a downpour (leading to foul e...

High Altitude Musings: March 2009

http://highaltitudemusings.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 22, 2009. We live in close proximity of Telluride but to ski there we have a bit of a drive since the Sneffels range is a barrier between the town of Ridgway and Telluride. We had a treat this past week though since P. Aige, Scott, Will and Reed were in Telluride skiing over spring break and we stayed there with them giving us friends to ski with and easy access to the mountain for the duration! Now if only I can relearn to do the bumps to keep up with Mike and Paige on Henry's Run. In case...

High Altitude Musings: September 2009

http://highaltitudemusings.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 8, 2009. First off was the third annual Elphingstone visit. Hiking, fishing, and a fun woodworking project along with a trek to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison were the highlighted activities with Paige, Scott, Will and Reed. The boys always seem to enjoy the time outdoors with high temperatures well below the 100's seen in Dallas during the summer and we enjoy having them explore the area with us. He enjoyed for dinner that evening. Karen and Kaivon Mortazavi made it. As of now, our ...

High Altitude Musings: November 2008

http://highaltitudemusings.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 3, 2008. Dam fine time in the desert. Inspired by a cheap deal at the Marriott in Palm Desert, we planned a desert trip. After several postponements, we finally did it in October. We got started with a visit to the Hoover Dam, where we really enjoyed the dam tour, particularly walking through the innards of the dam through the inspection tunnels! The Western drought was easily observed by the ring around the tub of Lake Meade. The stars were fantastic so far from civilization. Rocks camp...

http://highaltitudemusings.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 6, 2008. 5 weeks, 2 days, 6 hours, 45 min. Yes, that is how long we were on the road visiting friends in Dallas; Brian, Megan and Gwen in Austin;. Aaron and Peyee in England (more on that in a bit); my sister Beth and our 159th friends in Raleigh; back to friends in Dallas; once again with Brian, Megan, and Gwen in Austin; the roadtrip home with stops at the. And do the drive back and forth a second time? Since we would be in the vicinity of DFW, why not head off to England to see Aaron.
