In the Land of us. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. We have been busy at the Moreland house so blogging has gotten neglected lately. We had some illness and now Donna is wrapping up school and Mike is still working 2 jobs. School is almost out, so hopefully these won't be once a month posts. Here are several pictures and a couple of videos to get you caught up on the happenings around here. Playing outside with sidewalk chalk. Mikaela loves to be outdoors. Reading her books, a favorite indoor activity. One day whi...

Χορος χαριτος: A Danse of Grace. Getting Out of a Lab Slump. Resurrection Day →. March 30, 2014 · 6:59 pm. I recently finished C.S. Lewis’. Here are a few neat quotes, violently ripped out of context, that I enjoyed: (the list is limited to the sections I read while I had the means to record quotes and is thus woefully incomplete). In science we have been reading only the notes to a poem; in Christianity we find the poem itself. Death is, in fact, what some modern people call ‘ambivalent’....Discussin...

Saturday, December 1, 2012. How to dry your own herbs in 5 easy steps. 1 Buy a pot of fresh herbs. I got my pot of sage, rosemary, and thyme from Trader Joe's before Thanksgiving. You'll be more inclined to complete this essential step if you let the nice Trader Joe's lady trick you into thinking of yourself as the kind of person who is likely to make herbed cornbread dressing from scratch. 2 Guard your potted herbs from all natural sunlight. Just because it's night in this picture doesn't mean. Do Hard ...

More Moments: New York, Part 8: Staten Island Ferry
http://mikedonnaandthedog.blogspot.com/2011/12/new-york-part-8-staten-island-ferry.html
In the Land of us. Friday, December 2, 2011. New York, Part 8: Staten Island Ferry. We decided to head down to the harbor to see the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. My cousin suggested riding the Staten Island Ferry. It was free, took about an hour, and drove us right by Lady Liberty. We were able to see her a little more up close, as well as get beautiful views of the city. It was approaching sunset, so that was a nice touch. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Wednesday, May 9, 2012. I picked up Alice Hoffman's. Because I visited Masada. Last fall. The novel is historical fiction following the stories of four Jewish women, where they came from, and what led them to the fortress. Also, I found the cover to be striking. Here's the thing: I should not be two thirds of the way through a book about Jews at Masada and think, "Finally! The Romans are here! But that is what I thought, and here is why:. 3 The narrators are smart, independent, sexually liberated women w...

Χορος χαριτος: A Danse of Grace. Everything is Broken →. September 25, 2014 · 10:07 pm. Scattered Thoughts: West Nile, Already and Not Yet, and Death. Two of my favorite lectures. Have concerned the idea of already/not yet or the “overlapping of the ages.” Basically, before Jesus, the Jews conceived of two ages: the Present Age and the Age to Come, which were two distinct ages separated by the resurrection of the dead. Here’s a diagram:. This lecture was discussing already/not yet to get to an idea that ...

In a place where new souls see the world for the first time, I expected a more positive attitude towards life. I did not expect the first question upon admitting a laboring woman to be, What kind of birth control do you want after you deliver? While I think m...

I saw that phrase a while back in an ad in Christianity Today. I know nothing about the book it’s advertising, but I can’t get the phrase out of my head. There are a lot of issues in the world right now that I have opinions about, and the temptation is to join the Facebook or blogging fray and say, “I know how to fix it.”. The list goes on. Syria. This will be my 7th Easter at Church of the Resurrection. Even though we read the same 9 Old Testament passages year after year, they always feel fresh, thanks to artists who are committed to treating the Word of the Lord with the creativity and respect it deserves.
