May 27, 2015. We then stopped for a couple of hours in Greymouth, the biggest commercial town on the West Coast. The town was originally a gold mining town, then moved on to coal and now has to rely on other industries as well, such as, timber, sheep and Pounamu (Greenstone or Nephrite Jade).
