They got married at Temple Eliahou Hanabi, the most beautiful synagogue I have ever seen and which I was fortunate enough to revisit in 2004. My Parents' Wedding on November 2, 1941. Growing Up Jewish in Alexandria: The Story of a Sephardic Family's Exodus from Egypt. Our life in Alexandria. Although an only child, I grew up surrounded by my mother's large family. She had three brothers and three sisters. It was a very tight family. Nonna Sol (which means "Sun" in Spanish) de Botton whose maiden name was Arditi was the center of our family. She spoke French, Judeo-Spanish, Italian and Arabic. This is me at 13 days with my father, Leon Guedalia Carasso.
