Blockfreq, C , Lua and random thoughts. Mar 25th, 2012 06:25 pm. Yuin Huzami, The Ripple Effect. I'm still hopping programming langauges. Cool that after so much hacking there are still new ones that are actually important to learn. Is very gently introducing me to C a la Google. I admit I'm taking it up very slowly, but it seems inoffensive enough. I'm going back on my Erlang-hackerish resolution that "life is too short to learn C ". It'll be interesting to see how this experiment progresses. For bandwi...

EUC 2009 - Lukes Weblog. Nov 16th, 2009 12:31 pm. The Erlang User Conference. In Stockholm was a lot of fun! Thank you everybody at Erlang Training and Consulting for the excellent organisation. My favourite talk of the day was Patrik Nyblom on the development of SMP support in the BEAM virtual machine. He was entertaining andalso inspiring: that is some really hot technology that our programs are sitting on. I'm reminded of Klacke's talk in London last year: Erlang programmers do. Rosetta stone 3.4&...

Surveying Emacs Lisp – items.sjbach.com
http://items.sjbach.com/544/surveying-emacs-lisp
Published March 31st, 2009. 3 A short case study. 4 The Common Lisp compatibility package. Emacs is well known for being highly configurable. In large part, this is due to its close tie to some form of Lisp over the majority of its long and varied history. Within all extant implementations of the editor, the Lisp is Emacs Lisp, a language which is hard to love but easy to like. Emacs Lisp (inconsistently abbreviated to Elisp) is descended from MacLisp and looks a lot like Common Lisp. Emacs users tend to...

Dreams of a Scorpion: Using Apache as a front-end for Seaside
http://dreamsofascorpion.blogspot.com/2008/07/using-apache-as-front-end-for-seaside.html
Dreams of a Scorpion. Monday, 14 July 2008. Using Apache as a front-end for Seaside. I'll admit it, configuring Apache scares the bejeezus out of me. The documentation seems to be so focused on the trees, that the wood becomes an impenetrable, gloomy forest. I guess I'm not alone in this, which makes Ramon Leon's posts on configuring Apache with Seaside( 1. Despite this, I've still steered clear of going near Apache, until Ramon posted. I opened a Terminal and cd'ed to. Where I could execute. Which meant...

Dreams of a Scorpion. Thursday, 13 March 2008. Snippet: how to trigger events on a checkbox in Seaside. Richard Eng was having trouble. Using a checkbox to trigger a change in the contents of a textarea. To trigger a callback of a form element, you need to specify this form element with #triggerFormElement:. As the comment of this method says,. This does not work for multi-select lists and checkboxes, as those two. Form elements internally depend on another hidden form element. FormId := html nextId.
A Nickel's Worth: June 2007
https://a-nickels-worth.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 17, 2007. Over the last six months I have been porting the 1981 version. My intention was to learn the basics of CL; it's a straight port of the game. I wish I had thought of porting something sooner (especially Rogue, which I once ported to PC/GEOS. In the case of C and CL, porting was a good way to learn all the side-effect-y features of CL that are often glossed over in CL books (which focus more on functional programming). Was until I realized it's equivalent to make. Links to this post.
A Nickel's Worth: August 2007

Saturday, August 25, 2007. For all I care. Maybe blog, will I, about it, some day. So macros, in fact, cannot really get in the way of readability. In fact, they have the potential to greatly enhance readability, used judiciously (and as pointed out earlier, if your company is not run judiciously, you have larger issues to work out first). How many of you out there have worked somewhere that had some kind of coding guidelines? I could go on and on about this, but it's getting late so I'll just wrap it up...

21st Century Network Hacking. Echoing Packets With Snabb Switch. Just for fun, here is some simple Snabb Switch example code to retransmit every packet that is received on a set of Ethernet ports. It’s part of the basic selftest code in. The coding style is starting to settle down lately and so it’s more tempting for me to share little snippets of code. Can add receive buffer. Reasonably easy to understand, I hope? The features of this program that I would like to draw attention to are:. There are no con...

I'd be mighty obliged for any tips on how to write it better. Intel did a good job on these chips: the hardware i...

Braves Buzz with Luke
Braves Buzz with Luke. Here, you'll read the latest Braves news and rumors. Luke Goddard plans to offer insightful commentary regarding the Atlanta Braves. As I lie in bed listening to Radiohead on my iPhone on this lovely Sunday night (err Monday morning), I contemplate a very horrendous Braves game that took place a good 14 hours ago. To be honest, I was a hair frustrated after the game ended. I can’t remember and nor do I care. I’ll just shoot it straight here. It’s late… early. He’s gonna have ...
