Pinterest: Buy or not to buy – Luke's Blog
https://lukethrower.wordpress.com/2015/06/18/pinterest-buy-or-not-to-buy
Thoughts of an OU student on tech, sport and current events. June 18, 2015. Pinterest: Buy or not to buy. This combined with the current interest in voucher based shopping could fuel the industry further, when pinned items go on sale or have a code applied, they could in the future be flagged up and made more visible to the user, a more active route than sending an email to offer a discounted price. Building a body – Luke's Blog

Thoughts of an OU student on tech, sport and current events. June 22, 2015. The chips are made from a selection of cultured cells which arrange themselves to produce the same structure and behaviour as they would in a human body, additional material is then used to move a fluid which is similar to blood around the culture in order to support the life of the cell, something which doesn’t occur in general cell cultures. Another is the awareness that the chips need to accurately represent the response and a...
Internships: Experience + Opportunities – Luke's Blog

Thoughts of an OU student on tech, sport and current events. July 19, 2015. July 19, 2015. Obviously not every Internship is born the same, there are plenty of horror stories out there, and this months writing will surely bring some of those to light. But for many, Internships are a great chance to be exposed to the working world, and a slightly different area to what you might be used to. This piece is part of the #interning campaign on Linkedin. Periscope: What’s there to see – Luke's Blog
https://lukethrower.wordpress.com/2015/05/29/periscope-whats-there-to-see
Thoughts of an OU student on tech, sport and current events. May 29, 2015. Periscope: What’s there to see. Periscope states “A picture may be worth a thousand words, but live video can take you someplace and show you around.” However, another quote may be “The revolution will not be televised, but streamed live online”. The likes of Google Hangouts and YouTube Live failed to lift off, and Twitch holds a firm hand on online game streaming. So to answer the question in the headline of what’s there to see, ...

‘Self-motivation has been the key factor’ – @YoungOUStudents

8216;Self-motivation has been the key factor’. July 10, 2015. July 10, 2015. I have passed my first year of university! A year ago, I would never think I would be saying that now. I have truly outdone myself! Many people say in the forums and Facebook groups that three modules in one year, whilst working part time is a huge struggle At times it was, but I was so determined to prove to myself that I could do this. All the work has definitely paid off! Becoming an OU student really challenges you. It c...
OU ‘resi school’ – @YoungOUStudents
https://youngoustudents.wordpress.com/2015/08/03/ou-resi-school
OU ‘resi school’. August 3, 2015. By Sue Goodyear, OUSA Vice President Representation. One of the wonderful things about my remit are Residential Schools. Students studying some engineering or psychology modules have a week at a brick university. This year Warwick, Bath or Nottingham is where they will meet up with other students and tutors for face to face learning. I volunteered at Bath Uni campus for the weekend during this year. So what did we have to do? First written by Sue Goodyear for the @.

OU student and apprenticeship too! July 10, 2015. I’m James and I’m 19 years old. To me, OU study shows hard work and dedication; one of the reasons why I chose it. Although it has kept me on my toes, I’ve enjoyed using the iPad as part of my study but the old fashioned reading materials come in handy too. First written by James Fitzpatrick for the @. 8220;A year from now you’ll wish you had started today”. This month has marked the completion of my first ever module with the Open University. It’s been exciting, it’s been tiring and it’s been emotional. One of my favourite quotes is A year from now you’ll wish you had started today, and I truly am grateful that I did start that day last October. Written by Lauren Macpherson for the @. June 26, 2015. 5 years of OU – ‘it was worth it! July 15, 2015. July 15, 2015. Nearly everyday for 5 years I would come home from work and sit down to do 2 hours of studying, but it was worth it! This blog tells of my experience of trying to fit a 40-hour workweek, with a social life whilst studying for a business studies degree, I will also share some tips that I found to be useful. A little bit about me and why I choose the OU:. The second surprise was the quality of the study materials, with all the courses you get ...
OU – So how does that work? – @YoungOUStudents

OU – So how does that work? July 2, 2015. So how does that work? This is a question I have faced repeatedly after telling people what university I study at. It’s almost alien to some, and just over a year ago, the idea of distance learning was also alien to me. I thought long and hard about whether I could actually motivate myself to learn in my own environment, at my own pace, with no one pushing me to go on. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to challenge myself. July 2, 2015 at 6:49 pm.

OU: Make Your Mark. How is everyone feeling? So I assume that everyone has received their first paper back by now? If not, hang in there This will give you good guidance on how to write, reference and lay out your work. Hopefully your tutor’s comments have been as helpful as mine, I would take these into consideration as the writing styles may differ depending on the subject and to a degree tutor. I hope you’re all happy with your first marks! Don’t quote me on that). Finally this week was going to be my...

OU student Billy gives us the answers to the questions you may be asking! What do you study? I study Computing and IT. Do you work or volunteer? I work as a freelance interpretive dancer in my spare time, my dancer name is free Willy because no-one can keep me captive. And I’m an active nudist. Very flexible and it gives me plenty of time to study. How do you manage work with your studying? Do you have any hobbies? How do you manage your time with these? How many hours per week do you study? The most cha...

Luke's Thought Bubble
Welcome to Luke's Thought Bubble. Wednesday, 6 July 2016. A Mature Man's Guide to Feminism. The word "feminism" gets tossed around a lot these days, and I've wanted to write a sensible think-piece about what it means to be a good male feminist for some time. I juggled trying to be funny or light-hearted, but in my experience that devalues the seriousness of the subject matter and can also come across as condescending, so I'm going to try and avoid that. Why do I want to write about feminism? This is why ...

Luke Through The Keyhole. New York - Part Two. Don’t be an idiot and leave your bank card in an ATM in Vietnam. New York - Part One. After what felt like possibly the longest 24 hours of my life, I was in NEW YORK BABY! I was a little upset at the prospect of leaving such a nice country. Running around screaming with my arms flailing around in search of an air raid shelter. I had to push a few people overboard in order to get room to take my photos. I went for abject terror, I think I nailed it. Click th...
