phenomenal luminosity: The Vast Depth of Mudra and Bandha
http://phenomenal-luminosity.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-vast-depth-of-mudra-and-bandha.html
Monday, May 13, 2013. The Vast Depth of Mudra and Bandha. I want to write a bit today about the inner dynamics of mudra. Following this movement back, we arrive at the magnetic force or the moon that creates the tide which pulls the sea of prana, wherein this movement is experienced. We notice perhaps here that the body and its gross breath is only like a piece of driftwood, being pulled back and forth by the deeper movement of the tide. How are we to understand mudra? Maha mudra is the aspect of mudra w...

phenomenal luminosity: Magic
http://phenomenal-luminosity.blogspot.com/2014/09/magic.html
Tuesday, September 23, 2014. I believe in Magic. Not the parlor trick kind of magic but real Magic. The kind of magic that shapes Reality. Causes Reality to open doorways before your very eyes. Its there whether we see it or not. Whether we choose to believe or not. The world is in sync with our minds, our intentions, our wishes, our dreams, our fears. Creation can go many different ways. It is infinite in potential. Years later, after I had struggled and wrestled with myself, I must have finally gotten ...

phenomenal luminosity: Mudra and Continuity
http://phenomenal-luminosity.blogspot.com/2012/03/mudra-and-continuity.html
Monday, March 26, 2012. Mudra is like a powerful gift from the sky. Whatever direction we face, mudra allows us to inherit our birthright again and again, a reflex that draws us back into the fold of our continuous nature. There are as many mudras as directions in the sky. Slightly different in orientation and at the same time similar in nature, the powerful practice/gesture of mudra acts to dissolve our discontinuity to join with the ocean. How do we do this? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I want t...

phenomenal luminosity: Meditation Part 2
http://phenomenal-luminosity.blogspot.com/2014/03/meditation-part-2.html
Sunday, March 2, 2014. Hold a small object still in your hand, with the arm outstretched. Is the hand moving or still? If you answered still, you may want to think again. If your hand becomes still, the object drops. When we drive a car and keep the car steady in the center of the lanes, are we keeping our hands still or are they moving? If our hands become still, the steering wheel will veer. The movement itself is called parninama, also defined in the Yoga Sutras as a 'transformation of state'. In the ...

phenomenal luminosity: An Introduction to Khecari Mudra
http://phenomenal-luminosity.blogspot.com/2012/03/introduction-to-khecari-mudra.html
Tuesday, March 27, 2012. An Introduction to Khecari Mudra. I want to discuss the highly revered, much misunderstood, and most profound Khecari Mudra. Khecari means to "move in space". To fully understand this mudra we have to know which nadis, which senses are connected to space since this mudra involves the subtlest of all the 5 traditional elements. Starting with the hatha tradition, I will begin the discussion of Khecari along these lines, working towards the deeper understanding given in the Shaivite...

phenomenal luminosity: The Long Dream
http://phenomenal-luminosity.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-long-dream.html
Saturday, May 24, 2014. The yogis knows that it is one's own mentality that turns sweet things into bitter things and friends into enemies. Qualities are not in the objects but only in one's thinking. This world is nothing but a mere vibration of consciousness in space. It seems to exist even as a goblin seems to exist in the eyes of the ignorant. All this is but Maya: for there is no contradiction between the infinite consciousness and the apparent existence of the universe. View my complete profile.

phenomenal luminosity: Personal Update, on Fate and Effort, and on Loving One's Self
http://phenomenal-luminosity.blogspot.com/2014/07/personal-update-on-fate-and-effort-and.html
Sunday, July 20, 2014. Personal Update, on Fate and Effort, and on Loving One's Self. It has been some time since I've written personal updates on this blog. It was an interesting experiment making myself vulnerable enough to write about very personal processes that I have been undergoing through the past year. It was always my belief that we are all going through some of these places. To verbalize these spaces however, exposes us. It does make us vulnerable. Regardless of what happens to me in this life...

phenomenal luminosity: The Concentrated Mind Field, Creation and Completion Stage, and Mudra
http://phenomenal-luminosity.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-concentrated-mind-field-creation.html
Saturday, June 15, 2013. The Concentrated Mind Field, Creation and Completion Stage, and Mudra. I wanted to discuss today the role of mudra in the act of concentrating the mind. For many years I labored unsuccessfully at concentrating the mind other than just briefly. It was only when I started to get "underneath" the breath and discovering the power of mudra that mind started to fall into line. To control as the wind. The pranic wind. The light or awareness aspect should be merged with its movement in o...

phenomenal luminosity: Meditation Part 1
http://phenomenal-luminosity.blogspot.com/2014/02/meditation.html
Monday, February 10, 2014. Patanjali, in his Yoga Sutras, talks about two distinct forms of meditation or samadhi. The first is called samprajnata and the second is asamprajnata. The first, samprajnata, is when we learn to hold an object with the mind. The second, asamprajnata, is when we learn to hold the mind in its basis. Both forms of meditation involve control, or skill in utilizing the radiant reflection of consciousness that we call the mind. First of all, we need to understand abhyasa and vairagya.
