My semester in Ghana. Cape Coast February 12, 2011. 8212; lvogler @ 8:43 am. But at the same time, how is that any different than us ignoring poverty, disease, and all of the human rights abuses that go on in our world? We condemn these atrocities in the past, but then we turn a blind eye to practices like human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Something about that doesn’t seem quite right.). Just another WordPress.com site. You try chopping up a coconut with a machete. I get by with a little help from my friends →. May 27, 2011. You’re probably all sick of hearing about Adam from ISEP, but he wrote a post on his blog that I think you should read. It’s about the Night Market, where we all go to get food, toilet paper, and phone minutes :) Very informative, and it saves me the trouble of writing about it. I’m not lazy, just busy! You can find it on his blog here. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Just another WordPress.com site. Newer posts →. May 17, 2011. Comments Off on Distance. Two cool kids, 1990s. Being far away from home, in such a different place, has allowed me to distance myself from events happening at home. Sometimes I’m grateful for that, but sometimes I really want to be there. Also this blog is fundamentally about me, and what I want to say right now shouldn’t be. Two cool kids plus baby, 1960s. All the best, Ted Coughran! Comments Off on Distance. May 7, 2011. Just another WordPress.com site. Studying abroad in Ghana: a summary. October 24, 2011. A week after I got home from Ghana, I wrote a post about all the differences and similarities I saw between Ghana and America. It was mostly a complaint. I want to keep that one to myself and post something else instead. Now that I’ve been home for almost five months, I can be much more positive about my native country. Here’s the list of things America has going for it:. And I'm bringing my parasol. And then the wome...

Just another WordPress.com site. Studying abroad in Ghana: a summary →. I get by with a little help from my friends. May 27, 2011. Throughout the semester I’ve been writing down things people say that I think are memorable. Since most people are leaving for home today, tomorrow, or Sunday, here are some quotes from my friends in Ghana. They illustrate life here pretty well :). I’ve been trying to instigate the five-second rule in Ghana, but nobody likes it! Katie Hughes to Evan Trout. Ok let me translate...

Just another WordPress.com site. 32 things I will miss, 6 things I won’t. Recommended reading →. You try chopping up a coconut with a machete. May 23, 2011. When I first got here, I was really surprised to see people wielding machetes. Everywhere. They’re just so useful! And here they’re used for two main things: eating coconuts and doing yard work. The machete is first used to chop off edges of the coconut’s outer shell to give it a shape that’s stackable and won’t roll away. Scooping up that coconut.

Just another WordPress.com site. Bring on those thymine dimers! You try chopping up a coconut with a machete →. 32 things I will miss, 6 things I won’t. May 22, 2011. One week from today, I will leave Accra, strapped into a metal paper towel tube to go hurtling across the Atlantic towards Dallas, Texas. Delta Airlines better be equipped to handle my hysteria. Living The Dream | Strengthening Human Capital and Emotional Intelligence One Post at a Time.

Strengthening Human Capital and Emotional Intelligence One Post at a Time. Grind (Second of Three in the 3G Series). Last week we talked about grit. And in the first part of this series. I talked about how grit was combining both passion and perseverance together and then enduring everything that came your way. How grit was the intenstinal fortitude to continue to push for your goals. So how does grind play into this? The grind is consistency. The grind is using every waking second that you have doin...
