I was watching TV the other night, and the closing scene of the show I was watching hit me hard. Not so much the scene, but the music: Bob Dylan’s “Dont Think Twice, its Alright” from 1963. My daily cup of life has grounds in it every so often. The maker is the same, but somewhere in the process. The grounds find their way into my cup. Some days there are none. Some days there are many. I like my cup to be strong and full of flavour. So the grounds usually aren’t visible until you get close to them. They hide in the corners, in the shadows of the contents of the cup. Some days I’m really good at finishing my cup without swallowing any grounds. Other days each mouthful is full of grounds.

My problem with the olympics is the emotion. Not the emotions the athletes show when they underperform, or when they stand on the podium with tears of joy and fulfillment in their eyes; not the emotions the crowds of people show, or the audiences and crowds with their cheers, spontaneous anthems, or raucous cheers.
