Free Ideas!!!: Activism
http://freeideasblog.blogspot.com/2014/09/activism.html
Liberated, autonomous, frank, unrestrained. Wednesday, September 10, 2014. I'm realizing that almost everyone ought to be an activist. The main reasons not to be an activist are:. 1) If you benefit greatly from power. If you're one of the (bad) Koch brothers, for example. 2)If you are unaware of what's going on. If you don't read enough to know. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Guide to getting what you want from this blog. If you are a healthy person, you might like posts on: meaning of life. Being a...

Free Ideas!!!: Problems inherent in therapy
http://freeideasblog.blogspot.com/2014/09/problems-inherent-in-therapy.html
Liberated, autonomous, frank, unrestrained. Monday, September 1, 2014. Problems inherent in therapy. I've been thinking about therapy. I'm reading Against Therapy. In its initial assumptions, therapy assumes that there are greater and lesser degrees of mental health or awareness, and that it's good for people with so-called lesser mental health to "hang out" with people with greater mental health, who will "colonize" them and show them how to be healthy. A therapist who might be stuck in a rut, having fo...

Free Ideas!!!: Remembering what is cool to do in the world if you are not sick
http://freeideasblog.blogspot.com/2014/09/remembering-what-is-cool-to-do-in-world.html
Liberated, autonomous, frank, unrestrained. Thursday, September 11, 2014. Remembering what is cool to do in the world if you are not sick. I realize that when you've been sick for years, you kind of forget what there is out there to be healthy for. I just stopped in Toastmasters, and while I couldn't stay more than five minutes because it was slightly too moldy, it was interesting to be around actual professional people in a building downtown. Free Ideas!!!: More aware of continued brain impairment, wanting to recover
http://freeideasblog.blogspot.com/2014/09/more-aware-of-continued-brain.html
Liberated, autonomous, frank, unrestrained. Friday, September 5, 2014. More aware of continued brain impairment, wanting to recover. My pre-illness IQ put me at a level where fewer than 1 in 1000 people had that kind of IQ, and even at college I had a hard time connecting with people like myself. However, with Lyme disease, my IQ seems to be 10-20 points lower. But I still feel like I have some things in common with the high IQ people. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Free Ideas!!!: Being a survivor vs. therapy
http://freeideasblog.blogspot.com/2014/09/being-survivor-vs-therapy.html
Liberated, autonomous, frank, unrestrained. Saturday, September 6, 2014. Being a survivor vs. therapy. I read Manufacturing Victims. In addition to many other interesting points, the author pointed out that there are some true victims who have been through very difficult experiences and that many of them are survivors and have shown resilience, even apart from getting psychological help. In the case of health issues, being a survivor often means having excellent nutrition and using food therapeutically&#...

Free Ideas!!!: Against Therapy
http://freeideasblog.blogspot.com/2014/09/against-therapy.html
Liberated, autonomous, frank, unrestrained. Wednesday, September 3, 2014. I recently read the book, Against Therapy. It was great. What it made me think is -. We've gotten accustomed to the idea of a person going to talk with an "expert" who reveals little or nothing about themselves, in private, and under certain other conditions (where the expert can literally have the person arrested and hospitalized). Regardless of the intentions of the people involved, that's kind of a weird and potentially abuse-in...

Free Ideas!!!: September 2014
http://freeideasblog.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Liberated, autonomous, frank, unrestrained. Monday, September 15, 2014. Don't blame the victim about my relationship - partner who doesn't believe in mold illness. At various times, a lot of people have expressed discontent at my being in my relationship or at my not having a specific plan or steps to take if I wanted to leave the relationship. I just want to say this reeks of blaming the victim - to blame me for being in a relationship where someone doesn’t believe me fully. But it’s not my fault. Somet...

Free Ideas!!!: Why is it so difficult to question therapy?
http://freeideasblog.blogspot.com/2014/09/why-is-it-so-difficult-to-question.html
Liberated, autonomous, frank, unrestrained. Monday, September 1, 2014. Why is it so difficult to question therapy? Why is it so difficult to question therapy? There are people who would say in a heartbeat that most conventional doctors are harmful, the pharmaceutical industry is bad, the food system is corrupt, and so on, but these same people are reluctant to criticize therapists as a whole and will protest that "some therapists are good.". I think a few factors could be at play:. When being willing to ...

Free Ideas!!!: A time before therapy existed
http://freeideasblog.blogspot.com/2014/09/a-time-before-therapy-existed.html
Liberated, autonomous, frank, unrestrained. Monday, September 1, 2014. A time before therapy existed. First, it's very relieving to me to be reading Against Therapy. About some of the origins of therapy in the western world, just because it's nice to see that things haven't always been this way. There was a time without therapy, when therapy was first being designed. There have been other cultures with nothing similar to western therapy. It's been a very small part of human history. If you have Lyme or i...
