Our Meetings Programme for 2015/16. Lymington and District Historical Society meetings are held at the Lymington Community Centre, Robert Hole room. Meetings are held on the last Friday of the winter months, excluding December. We start at 7.15 pm and aim to close by 9.00 pm. The society has a carefully chosen programme that reflects a variety of historical topics of local interest and sometimes go further afield. The Society was founded in 1951 primarily for the purpose of actively pursuing the study of the history of Lymington, publishing the results in ‘Papers’ and providing lectures for the general public. Published papers are listed in Jude James' "Lymington; An Illustrated History" (2007), on page 188. Photocopies of many other studies can be purchased from the Society. Despite dating back at least 300 years, many of the original features of The Kings Head can still be seen today. The pub is known to have originally also been a bakers back in the day and even now the old bakers oven is still standing, along with the old well which is featured at the centre of the pub.
