Friday, March 26, 2010. Fred died sometime over the weekend of March 20th. He hadn't been doing well. He pretty much hovered in the same spot, hiding behind a rock. His breathing was labored. He looked to be in distress, but there was nothing we could do. We weren't surprised to find him gone. We buried him under the frog statue in the garden out front. Thursday, March 17, 2011. I want to meet the guy that wept during "Blowin' in the Wind". So, I asked myself, why did this man cry? For that matter, why did I cry? What IS it about listening to that music? About seeing someone simpatico with it and your feelings about it? Could it be that it's just hard to find that kind of music these days and we miss it? Could it be lost youth, lost causes. the bitterness of age and knowledge? I don't know. All that and more. I want to meet that guy. Maybe he knows.
