Laura’s interests in architecture and photography influence her approach to each. Through her integration of these two disciplines she gains greater insight into creating spaces that enhance people’s surroundings. As an architect my photography is a medium through which I find design inspiration. And as a photographer I draw inspiration from observing and documenting the human experience.

Defining himself as a problem-solver, Patrick sees design as a medium of exploration and collaboration that provides opportunities both to educate the users and to learn from them. I am passionate about problem-solving from start to finish. Our exploration of the relationships between various components of schools, for example, resulted in significant changes in school design to support ‘21st Century Learning’ principles and technologies.

The design approach called for incorporating this building into the scale and proportion of the existing neighbourhood. Folded roof planes lower the scale of the two-storey building. Generous interior corridors double as project spaces. Exterior play area is visible from north-facing classrooms. Exterior planters provide learning opportunities for students. The project was designed to meet LEED gold certification standards. Incorporates a Neighbourhood of Learning component. Functions as a hub for community activities.
