The trains are never late in Flaxengate. Flaxengate is an British N scale model railway layout based on a fictional location in the United Kingdom. The flaxengate railway consists of a junction between two mainlines into a short stretch of track which head towards the town of Flaxengate. Most of the track is still in use and many of the lineside buildings are in good condition as they have been preserved. Although most of the layouts scenery is old light signals have been introduced to the valley.

The trains are never late in Flaxengate. Above is a picture of the tracks before I modified them, it is obvious to the eye they they are incoorectly space apart to scale. This picture above shows the tracks after I have modified them, the look alot closer together and alot better to scale. Above shows the track with the back rails from the previous picture, except this time you can see that the rails are joinned up with a translucent plastic rail which imitates the profile of the rail.

Railway Bridges :: Flaxengate Model Railway

The trains are never late in Flaxengate. The Albert Edward Bridge spans the river Severn at Coalbrookdale in Shropshire, England. The bridge was completed in 1864 and is now used to carry coal trains to the nearby Ironbridge/Buildwas Power Station. Part of one of the power station's cooling towers can be seen on the right of this photo. Baseboard :: Flaxengate Model Railway

The trains are never late in Flaxengate. I have constructed the baseboard out of 3mm plywood and two 20mm by 40mm 2.4m lengths of pine. A frame was made out of the two lenths of pine measuring 2.0m by 0.4m. The 3mm plywood was then cut to size and glued onto the frame with No More Nails. The trains are never late in Flaxengate. The landscape formers meantioned in the baseboard contruction section. Was covered with chicken wire. This in turn was covered by paper mache ready for the application of plaster. The plaster was mixed and applied using waste cardboard for a scraper. The plaster was applied very thick, unfortunately this makes the layout very heavy but it allows for lots of modification and manipulation of the shape by sanding and chipping.
