Olive Knitting: Residents, Not Natives, and a Special Guest
http://oliveknitting.blogspot.com/2015/08/residents-not-natives-and-special-guest.html
Tuesday, August 04, 2015. Residents, Not Natives, and a Special Guest. So, in September we will have been living in Maberga for 11 years. As of June this year we have been living in Italy for 13 years. We've earned the status "resident". And still, we are not from here. And I still won't be "from here". Let me give you some more examples. Yes After 10 consecutive Maberga Water Wars we still don't know what we're supposed to do. And our neighbors KNOW that we still don't know what to do. Yeah, she made th...

Olive Knitting: August 2015
http://oliveknitting.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 22, 2015. Dreams in the drawer is what the italians call them. You know when you ask a child, say 5 years old, what they want to do with their life? About 15 years ago I was given the opportunity to rethink how I was living and what I was doing with my life so I got my dream out of the drawer and dusted it off. Two dreams actually: 1. be an artist, 2. live in italy. Last Monday morning I had to run some errands:. 2 Pick up my Permesso di Soggiorno Illimitato (indefinite permit of stay).

Olive Knitting: January 2015
http://oliveknitting.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Weird, in a good way? So, I've received a few emails about my last post. The predominant reaction was "hmmm? That was weird." Good weird or bad weird? Whatever, it doesn't matter because it wasn't weird at all for me to wake up with a children's rhyme in my head. Not when you compare it to this weird. Let me back up a little. Last week we were at a birthday party lunch and who shows up but Pino the Barber! And then we proceeded to discuss paper mache recipes throughout lunch.

Olive Knitting: March 2015
http://oliveknitting.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 17, 2015. And it begins again. The application for my Permesso di Soggiorno (permit of stay). I can't believe that the 5 year one that I got is already expiring. It sure doesn't seem like it's been 5 years since I got it. That is, of course, because it hasn't been five years, it's been four. By the time the application process was finished, one of the five years had already passed. So here we go again. Papers collected, copies made, appointment scheduled. Just to be safe, I'm bringing this.

Olive Knitting: Italian Boy Toy
http://oliveknitting.blogspot.com/2015/07/italian-boy-toy.html
Sunday, July 12, 2015. Yeah, ok. That title is only a teaser. I just wanted to see if I could increase traffic on the blog. I suppose I could also do that by writing on the blog more, but I digress. Getting back to the title of this post. David has purchased a new toy. Yeah yeah yeah, David, I hear you. "It's not a toy, it's a tool" like the weed whacker and the chain saw.yes yes yes, I get it. Or "at THAT price it's a steal! SOoooo, thank you Augusto, Franco and Gino for the. I cant believe you got by w...

Olive Knitting
http://oliveknitting.blogspot.com/2015/06/for-20-years-of-wedded-bliss-hes-given.html
Wednesday, June 17, 2015. For the 20 years of wedded bliss he's given me, I'd like to thank my dear husband with. There once was a boy called Cornwell. And the girl Lynn thought he was so swell. She asked for his hand. Standing there in the sand. Happy together on a mountain they now dwell. Under Denver's torrential downpour. Surrounded by friends and family gallore. 20 years of bliss. Started with that kiss. If I'd only known then that you snore. Something old and new, something borrowed and blue. Check...

Olive Knitting: September 2014
http://oliveknitting.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 29, 2014. Why is David collecting rocks? I'll give you a clue. Saturday, September 27, 2014. So I was at the gas station the other day fillin' 'er up when a guy popped his salt and peppered head into my open window (more salt than pepper). Guy: you wanna buy a house and some land in Maberga? Me (a little dumbfounded): um.what? Why should she have land in Maberga? I'm sure she'll want to sell too. Do you want some land and a house in Maberga? Yesterday I went up to Maberga Soprana for a ...

Olive Knitting: August 2014
http://oliveknitting.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 31, 2014. Toilets, Peppers, and Circus Tents. Well, turns out that the seat we bought a few years ago did the trick for a while, but then it too started sliding all over the place when you sat on it, just like its predecessor. Remember that ride at the County Fair, the Tilt-A-Whirl. Yeah, that was what it was like, a Tilt-A-Whirl built for one. Nothing makes a girl feel more like a princess than sitting on a seatless toilet in her own home. Having done a google search about how to change a...

Olive Knitting: April 2015
http://oliveknitting.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Truth told, it wasn't nearly as. Hard as I had built it up to be in my mind. Ain't that always the case. As far as cycling climbs go, it's the baby hill. But it's still a hill. David's clever. He's been trying to get me to cycle with him for years. I kind of thought that I had been cycling with him for years but he insisted that riding a 4 wheeled bike. Requisite gear.riding on the bike path to the nearest cafe. In Badalucco we had a welcome party waiting for us (at the nearest...
