Radical Moderate: The Church and State Debate
http://craicpipe.blogspot.com/2005/02/church-and-state-debate.html
Culture, Society and Civilization. Wednesday, February 09, 2005. The Church and State Debate. In a country defined by division lately, issues of religion seem central to the divide. But the divisions and the debates are nothing new since much of American political history is punctuated by intense conflict around religion and the proper degree for the inclusion of God in the civil arena. Posted by highlonesome @ 1:30 PM. There's much more to it than that, and to those people I reccommend reading CS Lewis.

Radical Moderate: What's gone wrong with liberalism?
http://craicpipe.blogspot.com/2005/02/whats-gone-wrong-with-liberalism.html
Culture, Society and Civilization. Tuesday, February 15, 2005. What's gone wrong with liberalism? Well I guess such claims require some support so here's a couple of examples I thought might be good. Greg had a pie chart to prove it. Greg showed me a map of NY state which portrayed through the use of shading where backyard burning was most prevalent. One thing I noticed is that hardly anyone lives in those places. So I did my research and came to some startling conclusions. First, it is true that bac...

Radical Moderate: What We Do Has an Effect on What Happens #1
http://craicpipe.blogspot.com/2005/02/what-we-do-has-effect-on-what-happens.html
Culture, Society and Civilization. Thursday, February 17, 2005. What We Do Has an Effect on What Happens #1. I've decided that this will probably be the first in a series. It sounds kind of obvious, I know, but it seems to be something we lose sight of as our civilization gets deeper and deeper and we become more and more removed from what goes on. Those in favor of the Walmart see an opportunity for jobs, relief of the tax base and view a building moratorium as an infringement on basic property rights.

Radical Moderate: What a coincidence!
http://craicpipe.blogspot.com/2005/02/what-coincidence.html
Culture, Society and Civilization. Thursday, February 17, 2005. Greg stopped by just last night from the Environmental Action Coalition! Who'd a thunk it. Unfortunately I didn't answer the door and was otherwise occupied with marinated grilled eggplant, a glass of wine and a four year old daughter playing restaurant so I didn't get the chance to talk to him (incidentally, we've decided to name our restaurant Secret Ingredient). Radical Moderate: Grand Opening
http://craicpipe.blogspot.com/2005/02/grand-opening.html
Culture, Society and Civilization. Tuesday, February 08, 2005. Welcome to my blog. The first thing to get out of the way should probably be the word "Craic" and what it means. First of, it's pronounced "crack" - hence the clever play on words: "Craic Pipe.". Craic is a word from the Irish language, often called Gaelic except by the Irish who would probably politely tell you that Gaelic is what the Scottish speak. I've not yet had the opportunity to gain the opinion of a Scot on this. That's the craic....

Radical Moderate: I'm Not an Expert
http://craicpipe.blogspot.com/2005/02/im-not-expert.html
Culture, Society and Civilization. Friday, February 18, 2005. I'm Not an Expert. I'm not an expert on politics or philosophy or anything like that really. I just like to read a lot and it often seems as though I'm tossed particular life experiences that have led me to a somewhat different belief system than most of the people I know. Though now with the internet and the blogosphere it truly seems as though there are many more people like me out there which is encouraging. Yet the paradoxes are invisible,...

Culture, Society and Civilization. Saturday, February 19, 2005. Culture, Society and Civilization. If you look at the top of the page you'll see that I've come up with a description of my blog - "Culture, Society and Civilization." Big stuff! Anyway, I've really been enjoying this blogging thing and I've even managed to get a little ahead of myself with the most of my posts. But let's get on with a definition of the terms (from the Cambride dictionary):. Noun 1 [C or U] human society with its highly deve...
