Mack and Mabel: October 2014
http://mackandmabel.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, 23 October 2014. Halloween Pumpkin Knitting Pattern. There is no denying it, Autumn is most definitely here and we are very fast approaching Halloween, so I thought I'd re-share a post from last year about these cure little pumpkin ornaments that I created. Even though my own kids are grown up, I still get in a good store of treats, put out a lit pumpkin to encourage Trick or Treaters and always give the best goodies to those who have gone the extra mile when putting together their costume.

Tuesday, 21 July 2015. My Hand Pieced Mini Swap. A few months ago I joined a secret swap on Instagram. We had to make a mini quilt that was completely hand pieced. I chose to make mine using English Paper Piecing. I started with an idea that I drew on EQ7. It was fun working on a layout for these! I got to do my big stitch quilting, too! I made her a few extras:. There's a Dumpling Pouch from a Free Pattern. It felt good to get all these posted off today. I hope she like what she receives! They read as s...

Monday, 19 May 2014. I did manage to finish a few sewing projects before setting off for Toronto, and I actually remembered to take a few photos, so I'm going to share them today. I made a clutch bag to take to the wedding with me - so much easier than traipsing round the shops trying to find a bag I liked that matched my shoes! For the pattern I used the one that accompanied the dress I made, but I didn't make it as wide. I used a navy linen that I purchased in John Lewis. It has a zip closure at the ba...

Opening the Front Door: March 2014
http://jaquelinef1.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Opening the Front Door. Sunday, 2 March 2014. The end of another week and almost the start of another. Where do the weeks go. Next week I will be celebrating my only child becoming a teenager and it definitely does not seem like 5 minutes since I was waiting (and waiting, men always late! Anyway back to knitting business . this weeks challenge was to complete items in chunky. I completed four hats - one adult and three child. All completed from my favourite most used patterns. Can I just mention though h...

Opening the Front Door. Friday, 10 January 2014. KNIT A BLOCK A WEEK CHALLENGE. Its week 2 of the Knit a block a Week Challenge. My block for this week was number 8 - Little Blocks. This block will definitely be a firm favourite with me. It was an easy block to knit and knitted up quickly. Importantly too it keeps it's shape and had a lovely texture. As I mentioned before I'm knitting my blocks into strips to be made into a blanket to be sent to SIBOL (hopefully! 10 January 2014 at 09:08. Also great to c...

Opening the Front Door. Friday, 22 May 2015. Thank you .xx. Ive realised and had it on my mind that it has been over a year since I blogged - so much has happened, some trivial but memorable some large and you just want to forget. Quite a few of my followers have said they miss me blogging - that is so nice and very encouraging - if only one had said it, it would have been encouraging but a few was priceless - so deepest thanks for this. A huge thank you . And last but not least my ever patient, long suf...

Opening the Front Door. Thursday, 8 August 2013. STASH-BUSTING OF A DIFFERENT KIND. OR THERAPY OF A DIFFERENT KIND . Ive managed lots of little jobs today, nothing major, just things that needed doing that have been left - two boxes of knitted donations organised for sending, a call to BT (stressful! A couple of loads of washing, order some food shopping and order Son's shirts ready for September (half-price on-line with BHS - bargain! So here is what I ended up with. Watch this space . So this hobby doe...

Opening the Front Door. Sunday, 5 January 2014. KNIT A BLOCK A WEEK. My first block is finished. 17 - REVERSED HEART. I have knitted similar blocks before in this style, where using a mixture of knit and purl you achieve an image that "pops" out. This block was quick to do and also keeps its shape well, have often found that some squares curl etc. My only criticism is that I find reading charts quite lengthy so did write the pattern out to follow rather than follow the chart as I knitted. Thats just the ...
Reenie Hanlin: November 2012

Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Gabriel's Monster Hat 2012. Pattern is Alsace Le Monstre Hat. Made from Miss Babs Yowza. In Moss and Starling, Patons Classic Wool Dk Superwash in Pumpkin and a natural cream colonial wool from my stash. Gauge on a size 4 needle was 5.75 st/in and8.5 rows/in. Gabriel is two years old so I made the child size from the pattern. I chose to make the mouth area different, with a snaggle-toothed fang. I also decided to knit the eye (pattern showed a crochet version). Of course I s...

Opening the Front Door. Friday, 21 February 2014. END OF ANOTHER WEEK . my weekly challenge and "Knit a Block a Week". Another week has flown by but at least we have seen a little sun for the first time in a long time, even if it was mixed with more rain and wind. I set myself a challenge this week of "Using up some started balls" and thought I would share with you what was achieved, not a lot I might hasten to add. Moving from left to right is:- a pair of adult waffle stitch fingerless gloves. Off to se...

Monday, 24 April 2017. My First Quilt Finish of the Year! Simple baby quilts are just the best! This one was a request from friends of friends. It is made up of sixty four 5" finished squares of organic cotton prints taken from my stash. Oddments left over from previous projects. I was careful to arrange them so they faced all different directions. I love those animals! The backing is not organic, but it picks out the orange and deep turquoise colours quite nicely I think. Thursday, 3 November 2016.
