It is called Revisionist history. Mortimer explains how he feels that revisionists are frowned upon. He explains that anyone who proposes the acceptance of a previously rejected narrative is considered an amateur as opposed to a professional. Though Tommy Hilfiger isn’t as popular of a brand today with people my age, I understood the point the ad creator was getting at.
