we once did grow wild as apples

We once did grow wild as apples. Thursday, October 13, 2011. I went to two very inspiring talks this week, that are both conflicting and complementary. The first was by Thomas Woltz, one of the principals of this. The talk I heard tonight was by Teddy Cruz. He spoke directly to the top-down vs bottom-up problem that I have been struggling with, which I have been trying to talk to all of my professors about without being able to get them to even understand my question. Thursday, October 6, 2011. And for p...

we once did grow wild as apples: April 2009

http://macrophylla.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

We once did grow wild as apples. Thursday, April 2, 2009. My starts are doing very well. Everything is up- even the peppers and eggplant have a few sprouts up now. The greens are looking particularly luxurious. These are joi choi and spinach. I should really turn them- the plants farther from the window are much smaller. I'm excited to see what they are like and how big they get, and how much they produce. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

We once did grow wild as apples. Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Originally uploaded by inverted reptile. It still gets betrayed by phrases like "top carnivore" (referring to those animals that eat everything else). And obviously, we. Are the top top carnivore. Not only can we kill off lots of top carnivores, but we can even afford not. The concept of trophic levels*". Now, most of us know that more or less all of the Earth's available energy is made. Which I now think I should go re-read) and "Vaster than Emp...

we once did grow wild as apples: HAWK

http://macrophylla.blogspot.com/2009/08/hawk.html

We once did grow wild as apples. Thursday, August 20, 2009. Originally uploaded by inverted reptile. If it weren't for the chickens, I would unreservedly say I am doing something right/awesome in having a visit from this youngster, which I am pretty sure is a juvenile coopers hawk. I didn't get a good picture of its back, but it has these great fawn-like spots. On balance, I am happy that our yard is a good wildlife hangout, even if it means extra vigilance. we once did grow wild as apples: March 2009

http://macrophylla.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

We once did grow wild as apples. Friday, March 20, 2009. Happy first day of spring, everyone. Its drizzling here, which isn't as spectacular spring weather as we'd been getting last weekend- torrential rain and hail mixed with dazzling sunbreaks. I hear its snowing in New York, though. I plan to spend the day turning compost, and depending on how wet it is, doing a bit more groundbreaking, or perhaps starting my potato boxes. 8220;My hope,” the first lady said in an interview in her East Wing offic...
