Somewhen Else: Shipwreck
http://somewhenelse.blogspot.com/2006/09/shipwreck.html
Fictions by Adrian Benson. I reflected that there were more noble - if not necessarily less painful - ways of being shipwrecked. One could be the victim of a mutiny, the sufferer of an attack from a great white whale, the recipient of a jolt from an iceberg. This momentary reassurance that the creature was still intact gave way almost immediately to several clashing species of foreboding. What was causing the goat to behave like a boat, not a raft? Was it achieving this feat itself? The goat, undeterred ...

Somewhen Else: The Hat
http://somewhenelse.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-hat_8.html
Fictions by Adrian Benson. Leathery, always there. As if twisted from his head-skin. It was his second presence. Although it kept its independence. Its removal in a room. But it waited and it lurked. A dislocated part of him. Imbued with its wearer's foibles. Now what tales could that hat tell. If allowed to speak its mind? When the wearer smiled. When the wearer sang. When the wearer raged. So did the hat. It was a fizzing mirror. Of all the wearer's moods. That hat has done its time. Moving back in time.

Fictions by Adrian Benson. However, the following is certainly not reasonably well known:. January in Tower Hamlets, East London. Now, exactly seventy five years later, Sharon McIntire, formerly of Wester Hailes, Edinburgh, pregnant to exactly the same count of months, but with her first child. The foetus is about 18 inches high. It weighs nine and a half pounds. Waddles back from the shops in her slippers. The amniotic fluid, which provides the foetus's environment, is being renewed every three days.

Day by day, word by word. 200 Words at a Time: The Conclusion. Oookay, so I kinda went over 200 words. Quite a bit over. Doh! But here’s my final contribution to the 200 Words at a Time challenge by Chuck Wendig. You can find other great 1000 word collaborations at his challenge post. Part 1, by Ashley. He had already looked in the frozen section. From there, he rushed past people toward the front of the store, past the pharmacy. Anthony, he yelled in a panic. Anthony, he yelled in frustration. Fictions by Adrian Benson. A Response to Kubla Khan. In Xanadu did Kubla Khan/A stately pleasure-dome decree.". Note: Coleridge’s biographer, Richard Holmes, has stated that the Moghul emperors’ pleasure domes were in fact portable devices and hence could be considered to be the early precursors of the caravan. To the editor, “Caravanserai, the magazine of portable gracious living in the United Kingdom.”. That deep romantic chasm which slanted/Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover! It captures the a...
