My year as a Fulbright ETA in Rabat ( a bonus year). Monthly Archives: January 2013. January 30, 2013. A few weeks ago, I was watching the Petit Nicolas movie, and the seed was planted for a new life goal. Every time I’ve taught small children, it’s been quite difficult to get them all to be quiet and listen to me. But in the film, every time the teacher or a monitor shouted “les enfaaaaaaaaaaants! Enter Kelly: “LES ENFAAAAAAAAANTS! Bucket list, check! Filed under Bucket list. Near) death by nail salon.

My year as a Fulbright ETA in Rabat ( a bonus year). Monthly Archives: November 2012. I think I HAVE learned something over the past year! November 24, 2012. So, I’ve gone missing from this blog for a while, but not to worry, I’m still here in Morocco! The past two months have basically consisted of one thing: work. Since I’m not having time/energy for much fun, I’ve been feeling a bit bleh about life in Morocco. PS–the Christmas bamboo is back! ETA in El Jadida. ETA in Er Rachidia.

My year as a Fulbright ETA in Rabat ( a bonus year). Monthly Archives: May 2012. May 29, 2012. Last night, I didn’t sleep very well, because for the second night in a row, I either had nightmares about or actually had a mosquito buzzing around my face for half the night. I know that three nights ago, there was in fact a mosquito, because I woke up and one side of my face was covered in bug bites. The last two nights….who knows? What I do know is that ANTS are going to be the end of me in this apartment!

Mo-rockin' the Kasbah. A woman's year in Morocco. What’s she reading now? To see and experience another part of the world with a religion and culture that is often shown in American media as diametrically opposed to ‘all the things American.’ My goal is to know for myself this small, but intensely interesting and complex, piece of Arab North Africa. To spread cultural understanding and tolerance. To free myself from pre-conceived notions and judgments, and experience life in Morocco with an open curiosity.

Mo-rockin' the Kasbah. A woman's year in Morocco. What’s she reading now? July 26, 2012. Ashley E. Williams. Well, I’ve been home for officially one month! The time has gone by quickly, and now that a significant period has passed, I thought I’d reflect on what it’s been like to adjust back to life in the US. Trust me, there are a lot of things that make living in Morocco VERY different than living in the US! What do they eat? How are things similar and different? I hope that my blog has addressed things...
