Utter nonsense, bordering on the unspeakably idiotic. The Reason for Mary Sue. May 30, 2013. Writing fiction online makes me feel old. (But I still love it, online writing communities are the BEST.) I’m 22, I’ve graduated college and been through a year of grad school, and almost everyone who writes fiction online is still a teen. And there’s so much pain in the things those teens write. Why does the overwhelming majority of stories in these online communities deal with pain and Mary Sue characters?

Monday, July 20, 2015. Mosaics are made of shattered glass, and there is beauty in being broken. The saddest thing I’ve ever seen is not someone broken over loss or bawling in grief. The saddest thing I’ve ever seen is someone totally numbed. What happens when you feel the pain you tried so hard to avoid? That’s right. More and more drugs temporarily alleviate the pain and then again you unnaturally feel okay. Now you can eat and drink and go about your life and somehow feel just fine. I run to Jesus....
