Saturday, December 8, 2012. Back to the Tropics! In about 16 hours, I will be on a flight back to the tropics. This time, the destination is Mexico's Yucatan peninsula, Belize and Guatemala. I, along with a couple friends, will be alternately backpacking, birding, hitchhiking, bus-touring this region for the next two weeks. The Lakeshore Nature Preserve is the natural areas on the University of Wisconsin-Madison Campus, Including Picnic Point, Frautschi Point, and the Lakeshore Path. The 300 acres Preserve extends along Lake Mendota from the UW Memorial Union to the Village of Shorewood Hills and includes more than three miles of Lake Mendota shoreline. The Preserve has been traditionally divided into named areas - see t he map.
