However, in that example of hiding under the bed-covers, I had never connected the fear with the cause of the fear . why did the fear exist? As I explained, the penny dropped! When I was a boy and the bullying was going on at the hostel, I would burrow down into the bed and try to protect myself by being deep in the bed. It never worked . but habits die hard . and the fear remained with me for the next 40 years.

On the surface I am enjoying the Bali experience . but deep down the "little boy" is screaming with panic and anxiety. . I just want to be home. Breaking the whole thing down so I can cope. And all the time the adult me is relishing the outside experience. and on another level I get so tired of the battle.

Don't take it personally. I was brought up with the habit of sharing. In school there were the textbooks, the bench we sat on, the pencils and erasers, and teasing the teachers. At home I had to share the last piece of chicken. There were no personal belongings to speak about. I did not take anything personally. I got married. We took each other personally! Women think way far ahead. They plan, plot, and gently let their men loose in a maze that resembles their mind! Life is like a box of chocolates.
