I’ve made considerable upgrades to Madsu in order to make her a proper cruising sailboat. Her previous owner kept her on a small fresh water lake; she was well taken care of, but not equipped to be a salt water pocket cruiser. I’ve chronicled some of the work done on Madsu on my personal website. Since Madsu.ca is meant to display photos and only short bits of text, it isn’t practical to move that information here. Spent three days on Keats, as our heat wave continues. Spent some time trying out a new camera, and Olympus TG4, it’s waterproof and shoots RAW, which is why I picked it for the boat. One way to make Madsu look like a big boat – shoot low! Woke up Sunday morning to a red sky and the boat covered in ash – all from a forest fire north of the anchorage. Dousing with sea water helped a bit, but it took me hours once I was back in Vancouver to get the boat clean. Nasty stuff. This entry was written by bigsnit.

Robert has been involved in media since 1972 when he took a job as a radio announcer while still in high school. An award winning journalist, he joined the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in the 80’s where he created and produced a half dozen network shows for CBC Radio in Winnipeg, Toronto and Vancouver. While developing the program RealTime. Since 2003 Robert has worked as an independent media consultant. He is president of Bigsnit Media Consulting. Robert sails a vintage Catalina 22 called Madsu.
