2014년 12월 15일 월요일. 일요일에 가게를 비우면 안 된다는 거 매우 잘 알면서도. 친구가 오면 밥먹자고 말하면서 한 시간 정도 나가게 된다. 물론 가게 문에는 세 시에 돌아온다고 적은 손바닥만한 종이를 붙여 놓는다. 어제 정오엔 친구 수산나가 미사를 마치고 왔길래 함께 식당 향가에 갔다. 빈 틈이 안 보일 정도로 자리가 꼭 차서, 겨우 남은 두 자리를 내 줘 우선 안도. 나는 물냉면, 수산나는 칼국수를 시켰다. 교민 성악가이며 쥔장인 안나 정님이 동분서주 왔다갔다 그러다가 나를 발견하고 반가워해 주었다. 주문한 음식이 나온 후, 안나 정님이 보쌈을 한 사라 담아와 내게 선물하고 있었다. 내게 주어진 양의 이외엔 식탐을 하지 않는 주의. 그래서 평생 과식이라고는 모르고 지내왔다. 본국여행 때, 포항의 친구가 날이면 날마다 코스요리와 그에 버금가는 외식을 시켜줘 나는 소화기관에 탈이 좀 났었다. 그래서 대구에 있는 친구를 만났을 때는, 거의 가벼운 메뉴만을 원했다. 나는 현재 느끼고 있다.
