Just us. . . and maybe some food. Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Magda and Adelle made it back from camp Saturday. It sounds like they had lots of fun, but I will let Magda post pictures from that trip. Yesterday, we had to make another trip to Logan. We finally sold the house and had to sign the closing papers. This is something we have not done for about 6 years and overall it was a good trip. Magda, Paul, Anna and I spent most of our time with Magda’s brother Darek and his family in Lodz. I have really been in the mood to cook today (surprise) and decided to make supper in the crock-pot so that it could cook while we were at church. Today's supper will be country style pork ribs, mashed potatoes and a lemon pound cake. For the pound cake I found a recipe in a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook from 1978 that I was able to modify just a little. Zest of 1 lemon. We are planning on eating about 6:00 pm so I will post an update later.

She asked Amber, "Where's your tummy? Amber proudly lifts her shirt and shows off her tummy. A supper for Magda and Anna. 1 bag frozen mini ravioli, 1 2 cup fresh sliced mushrooms, 3 cubes of beef bullion, 2 bay leaves, 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning, 1 dash of crushed red pepper, and 6 cups of water. The produced an excellent soup that everyone was happy with. It was great to see everyone enjoy supper and the dessert. I started the dish by using on container of fresh, juicy salsa from the local grocery store and adding 1/2 cup of water to dutch oven. On this base I placed four large chicken breasts which were sprinkled with a seasoning by McCormick called “fiesta citrus” and then topped by red and green peppers. The result was fantastic! Sautee one small onion, 1/2 of a green pepper, 1 cup chopped roast beef, 1 small can of mushrooms in olive oil until the peppers start to soften. Add 1/2 cup sherry cooking wine, 1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce and 1 small can of sliced olives and simmer while the ravioli cooks. A taste of country. One family, lots of food. Monday, November 25, 2013. Tonight's dinner was a a Rocky Mountain take on the Polish favorite, bigos. Bigos is a traditional hunters stew from Poland utilizing several different kinds of meat and is heavy on the sauerkraut. I use about 3 pounds of the stuff when making bigos.
